Had a screw up tonight. Dropped my light while taking it off my head and it landed bezel down on the linoleum floor in my mud room. I picked it up to this,
Anyone ever replace the glass on their PL47 before? Recommendations?
I canāt help you source a new lens but hopefully someone else here knows the dimensions and a source for replacements, also donāt know how easy/reliable reinstalling the press fit bezel ring will be.
However, I did open my Gen 1 up for the 219Bs when the swtich died, so:
1 - Carefully shatter the lens (Youāre already a step ahead of me!!! )
2 - Use a small pliers, tweezers, etc. to pull out any pieces you can. Something small to pry/lever them out may work too, but this could scratch the optic underneath if you care about that.
3 - Wedge a small screwdriver or knife under the bezel ring where the lens was and lever it upwards slowly, working around the circumference of the ring. Donāt try to pop it all the way up in any single spot all at once, just a little at a time prevents it from being wedged into place on the opposite side.
Thanks for the info. However, fireflies has sent me a replacement head free of charge. I didnāt even ask him to. He insisted. Thatās some good CS imo.
Does anyone know when the PL47 gen 3 comes out? I want to buy one but the gen 2 supply seems to be pretty low and not the best led options. Fireflies website said gen 2 was discontinued, waiting on gen 3.
Iām not sure on Gen 3. I do have a Gen 2 and love it. Got an extra in the box if you are in the US and want it? I got mine when they did the US Warehouse thing last year. I hope they go back to doing thatā¦.hint hint!
Just received my PL47 g2 today, 4000K SST-20 version, lovely tint, dig it. Came without head strap, as listed, so thatās something Iāll need to get. It appears to be running a 2019 build of AndĆŗril- any chance there is a build of AndĆŗril2 available for this light?
Thank you, Iāll go for it as soon as my flashing kit arrives. Usually I just solder thin wires to test pads for flashing stuff but these would make it awkward.
Oh I ordered one from Hank, with my order of the tint ramping D4v2. Iāve once pondered printing a PCB-specific pogo bed of nails (for a different project I was about to make 10 pieces of) but that would have me completely retracing the PCB (no source for it) so Iāve scrapped the idea.
BTW Iām reconsidering my views on the PL47, I took it as āmight as well as get a head torch too even though I donāt use them muchā but itās actually proving itself to be a brilliant little light. The tint, beam profile and CRI are spectacular, itās monstrously bright when needed, and the form factor that I doubtedā¦ Itās actually pretty good. It could be longer to fully accommodate my claw and Iām going to break the edges on the lanyard eyelet with a file but apart from that. Awesome. Right angle light with a decent magnet, I might actually EDC this when I need to grab a toolbag and go down to The Field.
