Well , after seeing a few reviews , I thought I might have to add this one to the collection .
I got mine from Manafont
As can be seen , the E09 is very size competitive with other AAA flashlights , smaller is better .
One of the things that sold me was the lack of blinky modes , and the physical size of the light .
Performance
Nimh AAA battery ...
Low = 3L / 0.06A Medium = 46L / 0.56A High = 143L / 1.53A
Compared to a few other lights :
ITP = 3 / 22 / 77
Maratac = 2 / 22 / 82
MrLite = 15 / 40 / 59
N-Light B3 = 3 / 18 / 73
Tank007 = 3 / 46 / 143
This light is very impressive for its size , 140 lumen on high , thats just fantastic performance for a small AAA light .
I like the 3 modes less junk , the levels are nice .
Overall a very nice little 3 mode twisty , its well made , well finished , fits together really well , and operates smoothly with no issues .
Now this sample is a little battery challenged , as in AAA batteries a little larger than normal dont fit well at all .
My Nimh Duracells dont fit , actually about half of my Nimhs dont fit . Also Alkaline's are a tight fit , some too tight ...
So be aware , my sample is battery challenged ...
Now aside from the battery thing , this is a very nice light , not other complaints to bring up ...
If you like a twisty light , if you like AAA lights , and you want nice output , dont want junk modes , you just might like the Tank007 E09
Nicely cut threads
Tailstands
well centred emitter
Comes with keychain / metal box
PWM [ cant measure ] but on the higher side
Supposedly supports 10440 [ havent tried it ] I like it just the way it is .
Very smooth twisty action
Some batteries dont fit
140Lumen on a NIMH
I took the light along for a walk , and it is very light , and disappears in the pocket when walking [ goes unnoticed ] , the 3 light levels are just right , Low being 3 lumen is near perfect for places that are very dark and you simply want to read a map or navigate by [ at night - or some place dark ] .
I think this would make an excellent back up light when camping , or an excellent primary EDC ...
No buyers remorse on this one ...
Always remember , the easiest thing in the world to do , is to expel hot air from your lungs and through some vocal chords ..
The resulting sound may , or may not be worth listening too ….
Thanks so much for the review! Great beamshots and lumen measurements!!, something which was missing in my review.
Tube diameter confirmed: Of my samples (i own/had owned 4 copies) the very latest one was thin in diameter (body tube inner diameter) such that Eneloops would fit but alkalines not. Some alkaline AAA were too thick (=fat) in diameter. Fat cells do fit in older E09 versions (depending on the serial number hehe).
And on the older samples the PWM was on the lower side and i could even hear faint whining on Eneloops (on Med-mode, on Lo-mode) but not on 10440's. This aural discovery has been added (info) in my review. You should be able to hear faint whining too, since you dont use 10440's.
A couple of reviews exist so far, nice nice:
Hmm, they improved the PWM? That would put it back on the menu for me.
140 lumens on High setting? Wow! I didn't know it can do that using NiMh
The one i ordered from Manafont hasn't arrived yet so I'm a bit frustrated.
i cant confirm high(er) PWM on any of my 4 copies 0:)
Vectrex it surely is an enjoyable small(!) light with very safe 10440 operation (modest current draw, moderate runtimes). but wait for V3..
Awesome. Now I really can't wait for it in the mail.
Where did you get the ld01 for $32, K?
I like: walks on the beach, sushi and things that are paisley.
Thanks for the review, Old! I may have to pick one of those up. It blows away the ITP in higher modes but equals it in low, very impressive! I had no idea the E09 had such a nice low nor was that bright.
I also wasn't aware of just what a sexy little light that Maratac is.

I Have one on order from Manafont, but don't know when it will get here. Service seems slow, but I expect that from China. I hope Eneloops will fit as that is what I plan to use. Now I am concerned as to whether or not they will.
Thanks for the review. I may order another if we know that Eneloops will fit. The output is surprising to me, but I see it is at the expense of run time.
Has there been a review of the AA model. I also noticed from the Manafont site that there is an extension for the AA that allows the use of two AA. I suppose it would not affect the output but only the run times?
Jerry
Nice review, Old. Thanks for taking the time. If I may, out of the seven AAAs show in your review, which would you keep if you only could keep one?

thanks! Went to their site, nice offerings. Latest AAA, revision 2, is $24.95 BUT they want $10 for shipping! Ouch.
what a beauty though, and 115 lumens.
Hi Kreisler,
Thank you very much. That was a GREAT review of the Lumintop Worm. Made me want one. I appreciate the comments re the 10440s. I have some on order, and plan to give them a try. I have the iTP A3 and the LD 01.
I am grateful for you who have such a wealth of knowledge and share it with us.
Regards, Jerry
it's a fun forum here haha :bigsmile:

Nice review ty, I'm not enough brave to start the kreisler's 1 xD
Where to get the v3?
Was a bit on the short side : Was dead tired ... long day at school .
If I hold the light to my ear , there is a faint hum in low and medium ...
I havent checked regulation as yet , and it really begs a clip ...
It really should make for a very nice EDC , some batteries not fitting is some what annoying , but this can be forgiven .
Always remember , the easiest thing in the world to do , is to expel hot air from your lungs and through some vocal chords ..

Has to be the N-light B3 , the regulation on it is fantastic on a Nimh ...
Maintains output right to 1v or there abouts before output drops .
My No2 would be the Maratac and my new No3 would be the Tank007 , now if the Tank had a clip , it would be No2 ...
And if it had great regulation , it could be No1 [ but I havent checked regulation as yet ]

is the clip on the Maratac removable?
thanks
Yes it is ...

Thanks, Old. It's always interesting to hear a "best of breed" opinion from someone who has several similar lights and can examine them back to back to back.

Best of breed ?
I think that would depend on what you want from the light ...
N-Light B3 review was on Jayki .....
I may need to re-visit this ...
Anyhow , the B3 just had really nice regulation and efficiency on a Nimh ...
Current VS output = best in class , regulation = best in class ...
Not the brightest , not the cheapest , not the best , [ mine is modified = clicky ] , but after the clicky mod , its just so sweet ...
So for me , its No1 in AAA ...
If you took the N-light out of the equation , the Tank007 would be a serious king of the hill contender ... [ Say budget AAA ]

Thanks for the kindly posting~I bought one on order from Lightmalls. But I didn't know this yet...
Thanks again~
today i've expanded the section "Disassembly / Troubleshooting." of my review with a few more relevant pix. the reflector of the V2 is glued onto the LED board as before. whoever opens the sealed head (the threads are glued with green stuff!) and then kicks haha against the reflector will tear off the reflector and leave a compromised insulator layer, as before (in V1). I dont expect a better solution in V3 (the manufacturer is aware of my dissatisfaction about their glue); the head will come again sealed (with green glue) which means that the user is not supposed to unscrew the upper head part.
not much force needed. if you ever need to unseal the head (because your Tank "died"), then do it. i have prepared several copies of a circular cut insulator (plastic!!, from a coax) in case i need to (re-)fix the insulation. I am looking forward (honestly!) to installing the plastic insulator in my V3 sample. Once your unit has a plastic or foil insulator, it will never "die" again, promised. It's then really built like a Tank!
Thanks for your review!
I’ve obtained my Tank007 E09 today. It’s a rather poor but more pocketable quick replacement for my lost Nitecore D10. Nice little light.
Low-mode users like me might dislike the mode memory behavior:
It cycles high-mid-low modes by loosen/tighten. It remembers the current mode, if it shines for at least approx. 3 seconds. Unfortunately, the mode iteration is triggered not by the short OFF period (loosen/tighten) but rather by short ON period. So if you have set the low mode, turn it on for less than 3 seconds (often enough for orientate yourself in very dark room), next time you turn it on, it shines the HIGH mode. Not very pleasant feature.
today i received my 10th copy of E09, from Dinodirect, and it's probably not going to be the last. anyone who's got a DD gf i advise to wait for the E09 price to drop back to ~13.xx$, then apply a 10% OFF coupon. total will be ~12.00$. finally with your 5$ gf it's a great deal, end total ~7$.
probably the cheapest 3-mode 1xAAA keychain light on earth. and still one of the very brightest and throwiest.
burns hands and eats your Eneloop AAA in ~35mins hahaah!
i do wish DD and Tank007 came up with some more or new items of interest for my gf.
Best price I found lately:

You’ll hear about fasttech if you stay around here…
Edit: I forgot, their cases are different, manafont has a plastic one, and fasttech has a tin? One. I prefer the metallic box from fasttech, very nice for a gift
