Candle Power Forums ( Idiots ? )

The people on CPF probably point to this thread and are glad they banned us...

Its a good thing they can’t link to it, or they’ll get banned too.

agree that's flame thread... have fun yes, but with the respect of others

Your attitude to women seems extremely chauvinist and your opinion of your wife's position in the household belongs back in the 19th century.

Another candidate for "man" of the month.

Someone's in trouble!

Well, I'm sorry to here that. I think both men and women should have the freedom to live anyway they choose. I certainly don't think anyone should live their life as I see fit. I have nothing against women who choose to work outside the home. My lovely bride is my partner and how we planned on sharing a life was discussed before we were forever bound together.

She isn't chained to the stove. Did you ever stop to think think some women prefer... to be stay-at-home moms? ... to raise their children instead of pawning them off on someone else? ... to bake at home instead buying baked goods from the store?

I feel you were kinda presumptuous with your belief that I'm her boss and she is somehow abused. I bet you'll be pretty upset to learn that she mows our lawn. Ya, that's right. She doesn't like people to touch her plants. Guess I'm going to hell for that!

Not to mention that the quote I was responding to is absent in your post. Because it may be possible to miss my meaning, I'll clarify it now.

yep, she really should have stayed home and baked cookies...takes a lot of ass to fill a Mans pants...heh heh hehehhehe

Well you just blew any chances you might a had with the ladies

I don't think that that is entirely true. My wife just got the kids on the bus and is in the kitchen right now baking cookies. When you choose, you have to choose wisely. Sound advice, even if I have to say so myself.

I was responding the "Well you just blew any chances you might a had with the ladies". And I was trying to convey, that if you find a certain type of women, that is to say, one who likes baking cookies, then maybe your chances would not be blown. I'll say again here with no apologies, I think it is wise to marry a women who likes to bake. She could be a lawyer who likes to bake. A truck driver who likes to bake. Or a homemaker who likes to bake. In any event, if you like warm cookies, it is helpful if she likes to bake.

Furthermore, I'm not the only one who doesn't like Grunta. Comments made about a particular woman should not be construed to be attacks on all women. And to be fair, I'm not the only one that has made fun of her. And, of course, that doesn't make singling her out right... just funny.

I'll close with these few thoughts. I'm sorry you were offended, but I think it is extremely chauvinist of you to presume to know what is best for my wife. Trust me, she already doing it for herself. Don't hate me because my bride has fattened me up with cookies so I can't run away. Don't be a cookie hater, generally. And, don't take anything I ever say too seriously.

Now, I'm going to have her bring me a snack.

JK, relax.

Ya, no. I'm not in trouble. I never write anything here that I wouldn't want my wife or mother to read. Truth be told, my wife comes here sometimes to read my stupid efforts at humor so she can then make fun of me and to get ideas as to what might make good presents for the men in her life.

Cone your post certainly sounded like you were one of the "keep em bare foot and pregnant" crowd. Perhaps you need to choose your words more careful unless that's the impression you want to convey.

As a father of four daughters I found your apparent attitude (as I read it) alarming.

CPF wanst considered when posting my comments, and were solely based on your statement as I copied.

Gee, I think I was about the first one to mention women, "but it's run by a woman, so it's understandable"

Well I am a chauvinist, if that means I don't believe in women having control of anything where their emotions can affect the lives and livelyhoods of many people at one time, as in a boss of a corporation, in a military front line or as a president, etc.

It has only to do with the fact that women tend to react more emotionally to problems and situations than men, even though their emotions may not bee seen, the decisions show that. I have seen it time after time in the management world and since I was in it for over 26 years, I can say I have worked with many women over the years. I never hated any or despised any and I got along with many of them, but in watching their decisions unfold, I could see just how the emotion of the moment made the decisions, rather than the facts. I have seen very strong women, very determined women and many I have admired, but if you can read people, then you can see behind the eyes and see the reality behind those eyes.

And, yes I do generalize a lot (all men, all women), right or wrong, it is the way I talk. Part of that was probably my country life 50's upbringing and the rest probably due to my refusal in believing that my upbringing was wrong.

Greta shows just how emotional she is and how her feeling of power takes over common sense, if you ever take the time to read or take part in some of the stuff at the CPF underground.

having been in the flashaholic world for a while, and once upon a time was a member of cpf i differed in opinion on some relatively silly point and was banned forthwith so i went elsewhere... the fact that greta is the owner and she chooses all her own mods is one of the reasons i no longer abide there at all... being a member here is a breath of fresh air. the other two boards i am associated with are also fair minded and free speech respecting. the fact that they (CPF) are (of late) often down more than up and running, and having lost most of the archives of all the old timers... well i no longer even tell people about cpf.

my two cents worth

This thread apears to be heading down hill from my view point, I'm taking myself out of this thread to avoid the inevitable confrontation.

@ Burro- "Cone your post certainly sounded like you were one of the "keep em bare foot and pregnant" crowd. Perhaps you need to choose your words more carefully unless that's the impression you want to convey. As a father of four daughters I found your apparent attitude (as I read it) alarming."

Again, assuming facts not in evidence. She has a S%$t ton of shoes and her tubes are tied. ;)

As for the rest, fair enough. Perhaps I wasn't as clear as I should have been. On the other hand, I don't see why what I said was singled out. Did you read the whole thread? And to be fair to the other forum members who said things about our mutual CPF friend that can be taken out of context and twisted in an uninformed attempt to paint us as "woman haters", I think that you should remind yourself that when guys are being guys, it doesn't automatically mean we believe everything we say, especially when trying to get a laugh. I mean, have you ever been to a comedy club?

I too have women in my life. A wife, an older sister, and a mom... any one of whom could have smothered me in my sleep at some point in my life if I was really such a big A$$hat. My wife, especially, since we share a bed and have been married a long time. BTW, my wife was in her early 30s when we tied the knot. She had plenty of life experience. She was a licensed professional. She made an informed decision. She was not some 18 year old I clunked on the head and dragged back to my cave to cook for me.

After my last two posts, I went and told her that some of you guys wanted her to go back to work so she could be liberated. She is still laughing.

I'm sure as a father of four girls you want the best for them. You want them to have choices. But those choices include the managing of a family and a house. I sincerely hope if any of them take that path you won't be disappointed. It's a valid choice.

With regard to "the impression I want to convey", I've generally been going for BLF comedian since my useful knowledge of flashlights and batteries isn't going to impress. I've clearly fallen short in this thread but promise to redouble my efforts from here on out. PM your hate mail to Burro. As for how any particular member here feels about me... well, opinions vary, I'm sure; and I'm OK with that because when I sign off of here I still have cookies.

BTW, I type with just two fingers so these long posts really take a lot of time. Time that could be better spent try to get the remote back from my wife.

I have gotten some excellent info from CPF through the years. I joined I think in 2003. I soon lost interest in flashlights, and would only visit it when I had a specific question. About a month or so ago I was wondering about some light and started using CPF. It has helped me a lot.It is not as friendly now as it was when I first joined, but there are some extremely knowledgeable folks there. I just recently found BLF, and agree that it is a more relaxed and tolerant forum. There are some here that are equally knowledgeable.

I just do what comes naturally, and find no profit in being contentious and have not had a problem. Who knows what tomorrow will bring, but I can live with or without it. I don't know enough, technically, to argue so that is not a problem. If the rules are not to be critical of some particular dealers so what? It is good to know, however, who delivers good service and who does not. There is a certain air of elitism as regards to expensive flashlights. But all-in-all there are some nice and helpful folks there as here. I learn what I can and ignore the rest.

Regards,

Jerry

Burro don't leave. I'm enjoying our conversation. If I can't hang out here I'm going to have to go watch whatever Mrs. Cone is watching on Food Network. Don't be upset that we only have one TV, it's real nice and she controls the clicker because when we arm wrestle for it I always lose. What? I have the upper body strength of a nine year old girl scout. Quite laughing.

I sure hope you don't think I was being confrontational. Differing viewpoints don't bother me... I'm not upset... come on back. If you want to see what real drama looks like, check this.

Oh, Crap! Scared another one away.

That's what finally got on my nerves... the members with money written all over them and letting everyone know it. My comments finally got me permabanned.

Rich

cone, you're killin' me.

Where's edc when you need him. He has a great picture about 'keep digging'...

"I have not yet begun to dig!"

John Paul Jones

I think that's the quote, anyway.

I still think Greta is kind of hot in a weird sort of way.

To each their own. I just hope for your sake that she bakes cookies.
