$7 Rayovac Roughneck CREE XP-E Flashlight, 2D batteries (incl), Spot-to-Flood, Side Switch, Free ship (US)

I bought 4 and these are great as Christmas presents, white elephant games. Yep, Christmas is coming soon.

Got some this morning...thanks for the heads up.

Mine came today. Not a bad worklight, but the beam is ringy as heck. It's worth $10 as a knock-around, short-range light. It is not going to replace an L2 or even a Maglight.

The biggest thing to dislike about it? #%$ *&@! CLAMSHELL PACKAGING. JEEEeeeeez, I wonder how many people get cut or injured trying to take things like this light and batteries out of the clamshell. I HATE that stuff. Had to use a serrated knife to get through it, put a nick in the body of the light when I did it.

BTW, this $6 light is almost exactly the same size as a TK41, just little thicker body. Very comfortable to hold, especially with the rubberized inserts.

It is an XP-E with some sort of moving-aspheric that is part of the flood-to-throw mechanism.

Edit again...the throw on this light is not too bad. Puts a very cool white hotspot out about 150 feet pretty clearly.

Or you can use one of those snap-off razor knives with the adjustable blade length . Just leave about 1/16 of the blade showing .

i use tin snips

No i'm pretty sure you need to use whatever exduct knife they just sent you ..:P

So is this light ,Not ringy at some setting ?? has anyone torn one apart yet ?

Haha, like I said...why should you need access to tin snips to open a *&^%ing $6 flashlight? Hazardous and environmentally unfriendly, clamshell should be banned from the planet. Every year 6000+ people end up in the emergency room due to injuries caused by clamshell wrap.

Has anyone tried these "2*AA to D Battery Adaptor Converter cases"?

On the back of the packaging there's a perforated tab that you can pull for bladeless opening. Worked for me at least.

Ahh, I didn't even see that.

Impatient me....

Gotta be smarter than the packaging

I was also decently surprised by the spot it threw after testing it in the dark. The flood appears to go much wider than my maglite too.

I just ordered three more for gifts -- the metal body really is quite nice.

thanks for posting this deal. Picked up 5. One or two for myself and will gift the others.

That's one way to hit the $25 mark for free shipping! & np

Thanks Ben!

Thanks. :) Sounds like I might pick up a few from the feedback here.

Hahaha..I actually saw this post last night and told myself not to forget. But wouldn't u know it, I sliced my way in with my pocket knife. I came here to leave my opinion of the light when I see this part of the thread again.

Doh!

Anyway, nice light for $6 and change. Ordered two yesterday and got them today! That was fast. As mentioned, very ringy when in flood mode but when zoomed, it gives a nice, not too tight beam. This will work nicely in the garage.

I'd like to see some pics of the head/face of this light. If anyone opened one up to reveal the heatsink that was mentioned even better.

About the packaging, I've never tried it myself, but I once heard you can use a can opener (like for a can of tuna) to safely open packages that usually require a knife or scissors.

Same observations. This new one lights up a 2 car garage at 150'. We have an old Rayovac of the same size with a krypton PR2 that can't even put light on it.

I may try some rescue tape to fix the head at the zoom position.
