NCR18650GA
Protected 18650GA will generally fit, protected LG HJ1 from ilumn might not
If u do get protected get one with a higher trigger threshold (keeppower or Fenix for example)
Whether u want protected or not depends on how diligently u follow safe bat handling practices
And configure the biscotti on those lights at yr own risk
In that flashlight and with that charger, a protected is not necessary.
Protected are more expensive than common ones.
Protected ones are no better than common ones.
Under a protection they can put a fake battery.
Buy a good brand from a trusted supplier.
Good brands … Sanyo, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Sony …
It is not recommended, with some exceptions, ebay or aliexpress.
In Europe, I never bought but it has a good reputation, nkon.nl
Find one that is accessible to you and publish the link, we will help you.
An unprotected bat can be faked just as easily, tons of threads on fake samsungs here
As to whether the person wants a protected or not is up to the user
There are certainly some folks i would not give an unprotected bat to
Thank you guys!
I’m going to buy from a greek online store
Some batteries I’m looking at:
Sanyo NCR18650GA, Panasonic NCR18650B, Sony US18650 VTC6
A couple of Samsung (25R, 30Q) were also among my choices but after so many reports about fake ones, I’m afraid to buy them. I think I’ll go for the Sanyo.
There’s another online store who claims that their batteries are 100% genuine and they’re providing (they say so) certification about it. Such a thing does exist? A battery genuineness certificate? The funny thing is that I found a customer’s review saying he bought a fake 30Q from this store, lol…
Theres no benefit to using the vtc6 in that light, that s2+ version only draws 3 amps or so
Get the 18650ga 3500 mah
Panny-B, laptop pulls, doesn’t really matter, as it’s <3A even in its beefiest off-the-rack version.
I use the Sanyo GAs.
S2+ Sst40 is 5 amps
Okay, but I don’t think he was using a ’40.
5A in a S2+? That’s a curling iron…
I’d assume that any store claiming that, is probably selling fakes.
I contacted him and asked him about that “certification”. He sent me a document which contains detailed technical specifications and guidelines about safe use, charging, storage of the battery. A user’s manual actually, which doesn’t prove in any way the authenticity of the product.
Yeah, so he pulled a spec-sheet off the Internet. Proves nothing, except he’s trying to pull something over on unknowledgeable buyers.
I just got my S2+ SST40, what battery should I get, anything that has more than 5A will work ? protected or unprotected ?

18650GA
protected or unprotected depends on how confident u feel of never having a brain fart
For protected make sure the circuit can handle 8+ amps
Keeppower rewraps a few suitable ones

Ordered an unprotected 30q and now I’m scared
No those cut off at 3 amps, u want 8amp + cutoff at least
The protected keeppower 18650GA from ilumn should work fine
The 30q will work fine though its a waste in that light
Follow the basic safety rules

Thats great info, thank you again, I know I’m a noob but its weird that the cut off spec isnt listed…
Those keepower are BO on illumn, and illumn charges like 40$ shipping to canada
The non usb fenix 18650 3500mah will work fine as well though its not cheap in canuckistan
Or just use unprotected and dont screw up
