Parasitic drain is a serious issue on my FT02, to the point that I regret having bought it, and I regret that I have recommended the light to a collegue. It has killed two batteries now, one of mine and one of my collegue. Locking out the tailcap works nine out of ten times, then you forget it and a week later your battery is down to 1.2V. When a light is off, it must be off.
Still the design and functionality of the FT02 is great, but if they did not fix the parasitic drain, it is not worth buying it IMO.
Hey, freeme, thank you for bringing us all these deals!
I use the original FT02 a lot and my only complaint is the high parasitic drain. I see they fixed that in this new version.
Can you twist Banggood/Astrolux arm a bit and get them to sell us these new drivers so I can upgrade my old FT02?
This light looks awesome and would be perfect for my dad, but I’m still a little nervous about the high parasitic drain the older model of this light has. I did notice they included this on the website about this model though:
“XHP70.2 version improved the circuit, and the weakness will disappear. such as breathing lamp power consumption; charging current increased from 1A to 1.4A”
I wish someone had this light and could confirm this to be true.
On a separate note, what is the recommended 21700 battery for this light? I’ve never owned a 21700 light before so I don’t know much about them.
