6 months LSD Ni-Mh test results (many batteries, more to come)

Hi guys!

I will start this thread to post the results about Low Self Discharge on AA and AAA NiMh cells.

In this moment I have results for 4 different batteries, but I am currently testing more, and all my future NiMh cells will be tested and the results will be posted here.

The LSD test will be of 6 months. I can not keep the batteries stored without use any more. And I also consider that no much people will have the batteries stored for more than 6 months without use and without recharging them.

This is the way I have done the tests:

I did 5 full cycles of charge/discharge, then did a full charge, recorded the max capacity obtained, and keept them stored for 6 months with no use, just only checking the no load voltage monthly.

So 6 months later (now) I have used the Imax B6 to discharge them and see what capacity still remains inside the battery.

The charge and discharge of the AAA cells is made at 200mA while the AA cells is made at 500mA.

For the moment, I have results for these:

- GsYuasa AAA 800mAh

- BTone AAA 850mAh

- BTone AA 2100mAh

- BTone AA 2500mAh

- Pisen AAA 800mAh

- Pisen AA 2000mAh Dont buy these batteries, more info here https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/8114?page=1#comment-164825

Are you going to post the results. ;)

Some results are posted now, I am currently performing test to the remaining batts.

For who need cheap LSD or/and can't get eneloop at less of 10$ I recommend that AAA 4 just 4,4$ the price was 3,80$ time ago :(

6 month testing is serious dedication!! Thanks for posting this information!

6 months of testing? not really, just only the fact that the batteries were unused during 6 months until today.

updated again another result

Thank you very much. And like okwchin I also think this is serious. Wonderful test actually, never saw anything like it before. Good call!

More results added. For the moment, the BTone 2100 is the winner in LSD and capacity tests from the other ones. Let´s see what happens with the Pisen AA 2000

Amazed to see how well the Btones did. Even the 2500mAh Btones did pretty well (though they are really more like 2200mAh batteries). Thanks for doing a long-term test on these. To me there is no point in buying NiMH batteries unless they are LSD, but the only way to tell if they are really LSD is to do time tests like these.

Very nice test. This is some helpful info that is hard to come by. Thanks for taking the time.

Thank you for the results. Does the Pisen results will come in a few days?

You are welcome. I think the same, I only buy LSD cells.

In my opinion, the BTone 2100 are better than the 2500 because of the price and that the fact that they are not 2500 but 2200-2300... The price/capacity ratio...

And about the eneloops I have. I dont know if they are genuine, but the BTone 2100 have slightly more capacity although about the same about LSD...

In this moment the Imax is "over-busy"... I am doing capacity tests of Li-ion batts and when finished I will discharge the Pisens AA to see how they perform. Maybe in a day or two the results of the Pisen will be posted here

Anyone can tell me which Ni-Mh batteries to buy to test them(both capacity and LSD)?

I have purchased almost all the ones available from DX except the Recycko and GsYuasa AA (I am not going to purchase nor the recycko nor the yuasa because of the bad comments in dx forums)

I need more LSD cells!

How about these? It ended up costing around $10 for 4 including delivery.

Interesting. I can see many people have done capacity tests of them. But not any LSD test of them.

Maybe, maybe. Looks good ( I never have purchased at hobbyking...)

Any other?

Is there any cheaper turnigy ones from HK? i.e. a pack of 2 instead of a pack of 4? Or another brand cheaper in a pack of 2?

Panasonic

Duracell

Rayovac

Powerex

IMEDION

Thats not going to be the best prices you can get them for, but they all have good reviews on various forums.

Thanks! (you are from Australia, I not, most of the ones you linked I have to pay more than 5$ shipping)

The panasonica evolta, OK but I have to pay shipping (uknown amount)

The Duracell, they are eneloop and I have to pay 5,39$ shipping

The rayovac, again uknown shipping cost

The Powerex are not LSD and I have to pay 8,99AUD shipping

The imedion, again 8,99 shipping

I think I am going to buy the ones from Hobbyking (turnigy), but I am going to "explore" HK website to see if there is a pack of 2...
