I dont, but i will be adding a vostok to my little family at some point. There are some really nice watches, bang for buck though………hard to beat. There is a little history there to, they moved in the 2nd WW and still produce from their plant. Yes proper rated, own auto movement which they supply other manufacturers with. They make for the russian military, so will be tough n doubt.
Depending on budget as they can shoot up some, some of the chrono’s are very smart. But your starting to go to and past the $300 mark. No doubt your getting a lot more for your money still.
I saw GMTs going for <$100 USD on Meroma, that’s why I was wondering if it’s actually just a slaved 24hr hand vs independent GMT. Don’t fully trust the translation in the product descriptions
Afaik Vostok are automatics. There are dedicated threads over on the watch forum for these pieces on watchuseek. Might be worth a bit of reading up, also on Vostok mods. They are reputable , nothing I would say dodgy with the brand. Sellers however is another matter , buy the seller is a well known term.
Meroma is a legit dealer for them. After a bit of sleuthing they are just 24hr hands that match the main hour hand, but the 24hr bezel allows for the same use. Now to decide on which one I want…
Scratched my itch for another SKX with something that is a much better value propostition:
Ceramic bezel, sapphire, hacking + handwinding, much nicer bracelet for about half the price of an SKX or 5KX (or the Long Island Watch Islander/SKX which uses the same case and parts and is being sold for twice the price… )
The former has a ton of the Chinese brands like this, San Martin and others that are doing both homage/mashup designs and some orginals as well. I’ve been very satisfied with everything from them. Orient is my Japanese brand of choice and far better quality for the money over Seiko, but both brands have still been pushing their prices higher and higher while changing little or even downgrading watches in Seiko’s case (SKX and Alpinist).
