[Solec 12V4Ah]_i need some gas man.

Remember when everything was Big! Anyways I have an old 12v lead acid battery from a big old spot light. The spotlights basically a hand held car headlight cool. I had lots of fun with it and It's been in storage for a few years. I'd like to revive the batt if possible. Can I still bring the battery back?

What’s the current voltage?

If around 0V I think you’re out of luck. I’ve tried it with a couple of small gel Pb moped batteries with no luck..

Is it sealed? If not, you can top it up with distilled water and try recharging it with 14V.

Yeah I afraid it’s dry. Like in 0v dry. Beer
I do have some distilled water. I’m gonna check it out later.

if it’s dry there’s likely no coming back from that. No question you will have severe capacity loss and it probably won’t hold voltage well under a large load. try shaking it can you hear stuff moving around? usually you can hear the matting broken up inside there. A good sign of a dry, dead battery. I would say it isn’t worth it personally. But, any automatic charger isn’t going to charge that. I know the NOCO genius chargers have a manual setting. Forcing a charge upon the battery. Just don’t let the alligator clips touch or you will be needing a new auto fuse.

Sounds like a prime candidate for a Lion upgrade

A replacement battery is $10-20 on Amazon – search for “Solex sb1240 replacement”. Looks like most of the replacements are rated 5Ah.

More Photons!

Hey, I have a similar light:

Battery was dry. Replaced with something found in a scrap yard.

Light is pathetic – 800 low / 3300 high (lumens).

Kept it for future mod… If I win at the lottery then a 14,000 lumen StratusLeds module with some pulled Makita power packs (VTC3s).

Edit: tested luminosity and corrected Makita pulls.

Call your local burglar alarm company or fire alarm company. They will drive one to your house for less than $20.
