Wrist watches. Post pics, if you EDC one!

Haha, surefire have made one! Not 800lm though. I quite like the idea of a decent light on a watch.

Kind of reminds me, i need a tritium watch as well :person_facepalming:

Xmas day wear for now

Combi bracelet is very comfy

Merry Christmas all at BLF, have a great holiday

Just checked the sire out Meranom which has vostoks…….not a good idea :person_facepalming:

Really like

and a little more wallet friendly

Importing from russian fed is still a good bit cheaper on certain models though. Could mean the difference to a good deal or real bargain!

Happy NYE all, all the best for 2020
Today the king

This is going to be an Orient day. Happy New Year, everyone!

Scratched my itch for another SKX with something that is a much better value propostition:

Ceramic bezel, sapphire, hacking + handwinding, much nicer bracelet for about half the price of an SKX or 5KX (or the Long Island Watch Islander/SKX which uses the same case and parts and is being sold for twice the price… :open_mouth: )

Very nice! Which model is this?

Heimdallr/Sharkey’s “Marinemaster” dial SKX. They have the standard SKX dial layout in a couple colors and this “shark tooth” style one too:

Cool! Who sells them?

On Heimdallr’s website or from wrwatches.com

The former has a ton of the Chinese brands like this, San Martin and others that are doing both homage/mashup designs and some orginals as well. I’ve been very satisfied with everything from them. Orient is my Japanese brand of choice and far better quality for the money over Seiko, but both brands have still been pushing their prices higher and higher while changing little or even downgrading watches in Seiko’s case (SKX and Alpinist).

Very nice guys, also reminds me i need an orient!! Thanks a bunch :stuck_out_tongue: Have a triton i am 50/50 on right now, decisions decisions. Would not mind, only just got this the other day. Its getting worse than flashlights.
This one is my little ones new G, his choice and he wanted a square. I did recommend the 5600 size, as it looks spot on in proportion.

My new one, oris tt1 titanium.

44mm, light weight, honestly you do forget its there.

Love autos!

Watch this! Nah, not funny, I get it

Anyways, I have a question for the horologists out there because I could disassemble and reassemble nearly every folding knife for you but there’s not much more that opening the back of a standard watch that I’m capable of.

So here’s the watch:

I have bought it in a used condition from the UK ($5 for the watch, £6 for shipping via a friendly Englishman) so when my wife is getting asked how her name’s written she could just point at the watch for them to read. That’s more my kind of humour but she likes the watch anyways.

I would like to clean the watch, maybe in an ultrasonic bath, I’ll try it with a link to see if the dark color goes off.
What’s the trick to remove the crown and the clockwork? I’ve seen vids and pics with little holes to press in or such, but I wasn’t lucky with the only hole I’ve found on this one.

Any hint is appreciated, as well as any information about the brand. The back has a print on the inside saying R.I.C. Hongkong and Sutus Quartz on the outside but except of some more models on Ebay and Etsy (most of them cheap fashion watches, this one is the most elegant I found) I can find nothing on the web.

Thanks in advance

Endre

it has threads, see if you can unscrew it by pushing something in the little hole that is in line with the shaft

oh wait, do this first - there is a word ‘push’, above the shaft
try pushing that and pulling the crown out
that is all that is holding the movement in…, the crown shaft

or possibly you unscrew the crown while pushing the ‘push’

(also that round nylon ‘adapter’ thing can come off now)

and then to put it back just push in

but i might not try what you are doing, getting the color off
reason - it might come off unevenly and look bad

wle

Thank you @wle, I’ll try that next week.

I’ve had that plastic ring out already and was slightly surprised about the small movement.

Now I imagine those modern 47mm+ watches (or shall I say Soviet Alarm Clock?) with such a tiny ‘beating heart’ in them.

I was thinking about trying the ultrasonic cleaner with just a piece of the strap but I think I’ll just clean it with soap&water and maybe with alcohol.
I can dry it with pressurized air on job, of course not the movement.

End of March I want to order a Seiko 5 SNK809, my first automatic.
Another choice would be the Alba AEFD557, solar.

I don’t wear my watches when I’m working, the solar would be the more reasonable choice, but I really like the Seiko 5.
If I buy the second best now I’ll but the other one eventually, too, so better get that one right away

P.S. If anybody has an idea about the age of that watch above then I’d be happy to know that.

it is 5-10 years old
generic very cheap chinese movement
as far as watch - citizen blue angels promaster a-t : quartz radio solar!

wle

5-10 yo with Hongkong written on it?
Haven’t seen that since it was given back to the P.R.C.

The movement is neither a technical marvel nor is the watch face a masterpiece in watchmaking.
To me it’s cool though to have a watch with my name on it, even if it’s my wife’s watch.

Anyways, a Citizen EcoDrive could be within my budget (married with children  ), but I haven’t found a design I like,
for the price of your ProMaster I could get five to ten Seiko 5

Also the watch face is way too busy for my liking, if I need all this information I rather use my Sony XP1compact.
I also guess it’s slightly bigger than the 38mm of the ‘5’.
I have rather slim wrists, 40mm is my max when it’s a slim watch like my Skagen 809XLTBN

Thanks for the input

i can;t see a hong kong, one thing looks like japan

promaster - $200 on ebay, 350 on amazon

you mean the promaster is busy ? maybe but i like it, and i also like super clean watch faces too
it seems big but doesn;t wear big, i have small wrists too
