ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

Does the blade lock in place on those little scalpel-blade knives? If so, what type of lock?

A Useful Ütility” blade is the Browning. Heavy, and Heavy duty range.
3+in blade. THICK. 440c Steel. Rear lock. Basic. and cheap.
Minimum taper from top to bottom. and heel to tip of blade is useful for much more than peeling an apple etc.

Look for blades that carry their body thickness almost down to the tip. Stepping in just before then.
They have a backbone to lever with.
My old ENLAN $8 speshul, yrs ago. Is a good working blade.8cr13 steel.
Backbone carried almost down to the tip. Can do a lot of heavy work
IN IT’S SIZE RANGE. Plus serious sharpening, ahaving edge.

I carry a THICK shank, 9 in, flat blade screwdriver in sleeve in belt for serious levering items when out camping.
Takes no room. useful for many jobs. and handle has built in sockets for 3 x differing tips.

These toy folders are alright for cutting cardboard. Fuit etc.
But seriously.
Going camping/bush/Hunting.
Please take a fixed blade. 4 1\2 in plus, decent handle knife on your belt.
It’ll do all you want safely. Hold a good edge with a 6in, diamond steel in pocket
WITH the little toys in your pocket for smoko.
and you’ll come home with 8 fingers and 2 thumbs as a bonus.

Wow. It seams you really want to escalate. I don’t particularly appreciate anyone on the forum being called ignorant, but you’ve been here a while and maybe that kind of communication works for you. No worries. What’s obvious is that you’ve never been in a situation where you’ve had to use a tool for anything outside of it’s intended perimeters, and I really hope you never have to. However, that’s not been my life or my experience, and if it has to be done, the item’s resale value is really not what I’m thinking about. You clearly know about tools, so good luck with everything, and I hope this conversation can be over.

I like the Gerber EAB Lite for a utility knife, very slim & has a liner lock and pocket clip about $10 at walmart for black version.

Nicer look. I’m not all that enamored with the OEM “hippo” blade style.

Thanks!

I couldn’t rest and I modded my TwoSun TS70 too. I took several pics about the process.

Before and after:

Hultafor makes a chisel knife you can probably pry with …

Absolutely love the TS16 in titanium!!! I have an order in for a TS165 with G-10 scales and a 14c28N blade. I will dye the G-10 golden yellow to contrast with the black detailing.

Excellent work! Thanks for the link to your progress photos. Send them to TwoSun and maybe they’ll make a new version in your honor. I don’t like their more unconventional blade design. Yours looks as it should have been.

The TS16 was a pleasent surprise for me too. Don’t forget to post pics about the result of the handle mod!

Thank you! They can’t go wrong with a wharncliffe or a drop point blade but a new design could be a hit or miss.

Do you mean that there might be some blades more interesting than #10, #21, #22 that fit some of the mentioned handles or some other interesting handles?

Yeah, but my Ladybug is already a bit too small when I want to cut myself a loaf of bread. Or spread something on that loaf. When I think about having less than half the blade length I just don’t think it’s a good idea for me.
OTOH my knife is never scalpel-sharp. And sometimes when I don’t have time to sharpen it I am really disappointed with how it cuts. That’s why I’m considering compromising blade length even more.

Anyone could me recommend good seller for F95 in titanium?
Thx, Mike

I bought mine from Feng’s Store on Ali.

The knife finally arrived. Indeed, it does have a frame lock. HEAVY! More than I expected. But not all that bad. Sure was oily. But better that than bone dry & needing lubricant. Excellent finishing of the frame. Works well. Clip was a little loose but easily tightened. Very sharp edge. Overall, I like it much.

I bought a CH3507 knife, and wanted to detach the clip. Unscrewed the two clip screws without problem and removed the clip. Screwed back the first screw, nice, now the problem. Then, trying to put back the 2nd screw, it tightens up completely going in only halfway, and is now impossible to get off. If I try to unscrew that screw, the screw on the other side of the handle loosens, because they share the same hole and are somehow connected by a small hallow bolt. The right screw just turns around when trying to unscrew it, and is impossible to get off. Is there a trick to get it off? Will I need to dismantle the whole knife?

Wow. That vid is just awesome.

To give a folding knife to someone who never handled one.
And those fingernails, yuk. Definitely not a knife nut nor hand model…

When you see a long pinky fingernail, that’s a very likely sign that they’re a drug user. Not speaking from personal experience! LOL

oh god, yes.

Saw this mini flipper with Damascus D2 blade and titan handle, only 9 cm unfolded. I’m seriously considering it.

Looks pretty cool.

I wonder if the Damascus is real.

It'd be nice if they mentioned how many layers it is.
