I did the Sunwayman mod on CPF. Other single AAA lights may be similar internally. I really enjoyed that light, although unfortunately mine died in from a 5’ drop. Hopefully, I was just unlucky, as I think a diode on the driver might not have been well-soldered originally.
The drive current seems to be right around 25mA.
SB Flashlights also has the Klarus Mi02 on closeout right now for cheap. Shipping cost is reasonable, too.
I don’t know for certain, but I don’t think it has a potted driver, so modding it should be similar to the Sunwayman R01a.
Alright, all the shipments sent to U.S. on Dec 1 are now officially write-offs (at least for the tracking begins with LX——-), as the PO has reported to me.
I bought some 5800K, then some 3400K when it became available so now i want the 2300K but would like to wait for the 4000K if there is a chance they'll be available soon.
I don’t know in which pile in which part of the world they are but this package is really slow, sorry about that. I will check them as soon as they get in.
Finally the 4000K samples arrived. And these are a surprise. I checked 3 leds at 30mA.
*First, they are not 4000K but 5000K, what is a disappointment because that makes them less special.
*The beam is nice and smooth, I checked three leds, and there are no visible tint shifts over the beam, one of the 3 leds has a slight unevenness in the hotspot, which would annoy a purist but does not affect a normal user. The other two beams were perfectly smooth.
*output: 15 lumen at 50mA, 120mA does not kill the led. (no output curve is not measured yet)
