I’m yet to be really impressed with clone optics but it doesn’t prevent me from seeking a good one. I believe I will find it eventually, after all lens design is not that hard.
No, they are never standard. Typically the refraction part of the front surface is always convex and the reflection part has the outer edges forwards.
They sometimes have frosting on either surface.
Typically, they have a small refraction part compared to Led Lenser. The only sophistication I see on LL is careful choice of:
I’ve seen some decent led lenser clones before that actually are pretty close.
The zoom and flood worked the same, although there were more rings and aberrations and also the spot was not as tight.
Ok, if you find some that look decent build, and suitable for nodding the host, let me know.
I don’t care if it doesn’t look like a lender. All I care about is the focus lens and a decent quality host that takes an 18650 or similar lithium cell.
It was many years ago I saw the post, either here or on CPF.
I would just search google for “led lenser clone review” or “led lenser fake” or “copy” or something like that, you’ll find what you’re looking for.
Problem is thats designed to take AAA batteries and not as easy to mod, also seems that they are only available on alibaba and their MOQ is 1000 units!
When there’s will sometimes there’s way.
I see that you’re not impressed with this light…I’m not either, though sometimes 3xAAA lights can accept 21700 cells.
Fairly cheap torch, may be worth a try. Driver size is a mystery, which given the two cell input (I'm sure you'll want to set some li-ion 14500s in) will need some special driver if worth the hassle.
I dont know anyone that likes the horrible square beam of an LED chip!
LED Lenser managed to pull this off with a perfect round dot in the middle when focused.
I cant wait to their patent expires. Anyone know when its due to expire? I think the life of a patent is 20 years typically, depending on the jurisdiction.
LED lenser have been around since 1993, but doubt they had LED lights until the early 2000’s so probably renamed the company at some point when LED’s came out and probably when they designed their “lenser” focusing.
