Energizer impulse buy

Saw it-got intrigued and ordered one. Pretty nice... looks like it has the same guts as the Vision HD series without the digital focus thing. Energizer has come a long way-the light is very well built with a nice matte finish-no cheap looking gloss. Hate glossy! Nice not-too-floody-not too-narrow beam, nice yellow ~4500K (guessing) I put 6 Eneloops in it and I would say it does the advertised 1000 lumens, lit up the whole back yard.

It is big though, almost 2D Mag size but very substantial, or it will be when I address battery rattle.

Pros: Bright. Nice beam pattern/tint. Feels good in large hands. Good finish.

Cons: Some will say it's too big.

So-so: Tailcap switch only but it *is* sold as a tactical light. Not gonna cigar grip this one!

Fatal: Have to step through H-M to turn off. No antiroll, will get away.

Thoughts?

The Amazon video that goes with the rechargeable version says it has "one press digital focus". It doesn't have that feature?

Had to visit the Energizer website to get rechargeable battery type:
Operates on Lithium Ion (26650) non-removable battery
Would like to see runtime graphs - to see how long it maintains 1000 lumens (which I suspect isn't long).

Nothing Energizer uses a 26650 afaik. Make sure you click on the TAC-1000 button. Same page covers both lights. Lemme go check.

OK, try this:

The rechargeable version (Vision HD) does:

Ah. Didn't know that, thanks for pointing it out.

Does that mean it wants a long press to start the strobe? Or are you expected to keep the button pressed in order to have it strobe?

they have a specific manufacturer that makes their 26650? Should I just assume it’s a Chinese cell?

Someone tear this thing apart?

Long press to start.

Well, at least you don’t have to step through strobe like in my 3C Defiant light.

Bummer. The Energizer also has a soft switch so you can leap through low pretty fast. It does come on at full by default and I like that.
