Review: KD 7135 V2 drivers 3040/2280/1520 mA with mode configuration

Hooray for you. The difference between having and knowing how is doing.

For those with a too large solder iron: wind some copper wire around the tip.

do you have any news? i am interested in ordering as well :)

Yup, arrived yesterday!

I got 5 pcs, one already in a flashlight, and that one works almost as expected.

Will post more info in the next few days.

Viktor

Thanks to victori, I contacted KD with my own request and they said it should be fine, send them an order number of 5ea of these drivers and they will look into modifying them... I requested:

1. Original setup

2. Original setup

3. High - Low2 (10%)

4. Low2 (10%) - High

5. High - Low2 - Strobe

6. Low2 - High - Strobe

7. High - Med (30%) - Low (5%)

8. Low (5%) - Med (30%) - High

This should give me unlimited possibilities of modding for XPG at full power, XML at full power (by default) and adding 4 more chips for total of 4.5A for Triple XPG or Nichia... Should be awesome if they fulfill my request... fingers crossed... If they do, I know I'll never buy any other linear driver as this would cover for everything... :-)

I still wonder what microcontroller they use...

that are great news :) looking forward to your information

Same here.....

It would be nice to see this driver be able to handle using a single primary 123 battery. I don't know what would need changing in order to have that happen....it looks more specifically suited for 3.7v not 3.0v.

Can anyone spread some "light" on that for me? (pun intended :) )

got 2 of these drivers I ordered awhile ago..they flashed them so my modes are ~3a, ~1.35a, ~.070a..awesome spacing...

Thank you for the info viktori . It's good to know they also flash them custom

Question : Has anyone tried giving a good tap to the flashlight that has one of theese drivers installed?

I recently bought two KD 6x7135 V2 LED Driver 2280mA , I've installed them in two UltraFire XM-L T6 WF-504B , used different settings , and if I tap anyone of them while on High Mode, it automaticaly goes to Medium Mode, the memory mode S1 brige is connected so even if the battery would disconnect for a fraction of a second it wouldn't have to do this. I've noticed this odd thing because I'm using them on my bicycle...

yes mine switches too if I hit it..a solution is to snug up the battery with tape or cardboard shims and/or adding a small standard p60 spring to the existing spring..I had to add springs to the old 105c drivers because the stock ones wouldn't contact the battery..i'll have to do the same thing to these drivers..

here is a link to pictures of what I did with the extra spring..the copper wire was left as it was more hassle to remove it than to just leave it..

https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/1752

The spring was also my first tought , probably when you tap it , for a fraction of a second there's a weak contact at the + end, and because of this the voltage drops below 2.8 V and the protection kick's in , which sets the output to 35 % ...

Thanks! I will try it. (and will probably work )

yeah the spring rate on these drivers is really stiff..so any shot is going to lift the battery off the spring and not allow for a compensation like you get with these weaker p60 springs..it's really easy to fit the new spring on the existing spring..you just have to make sure the diameter of the part going on the stock spring is tight then feed solder to join..

I've posted an article on my custom ordered KD 7135 V2 3040mA LED Driver:

Viktor

the drivers are now available with 50mA low mode at kaidomain. but you need to buy 5.

I bought some of them to give it a try, I tried adding an extra 7135 (350mA from the V1), but when I connect the chip the driver doesn’t turn on…
Why can this be? maybe the extra 7135 is damaged? or maybe they should be inserted in some specific order?
If someone did it before with this KD V2 I would like to know where to connect the extra 7135

EDIT: I did this before with the V1 version, at first it didn’t work until E1320 helped me with the order, and since then it always works… but this new driver is giving me this problem again :frowning:

Here is a pic of the not working piggy mod, it is not fully connected

Hey FX-32, I haven’t tried stacking 350mA and 380mA chips together, but strictly judging from your picture, are the middle legs soldered together?
Reason I’m asking is because when I stack them, I usually solder together the larger tab at the back instead of the middle leg since they are the same anyway (if that makes any sense).

I have mixed different AMCs and it worked.. if that's any help for you.
