Coronavirus **personal experiences** thread

They also found the seafood mart the virus originated from and started the race against time to come up with a serum.
Because the virus originated from animals, scientists have stated by the time they think they’ve come up with the cure, it could be ineffective.
The reason is because when the virus occupies a different species it could begin to mutate and become more resistant.

Most household disinfectants readily kill coronavirus immediately. Room temperature kills coronavirus within 48 hours. Carpeting is protective to the virus and the virus is able to survive in carpeting for at least 7 weeks.

A third case of the new coronavirus in the U.S. has been diagnosed in Orange County, California.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the case in a traveler from Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the global outbreak.

Cases in China have soared to nearly 2,000 in recent days. A handful of other cases have been confirmed in other countries, including Australia, France, Japan, Singapore and Thailand.

The two other cases of the new coronavirus, called 2019-nCoV, in the U.S. were in Everett, Washington, and Chicago. Those patients remain hospitalized, but are said to be doing well.

In a statement late Saturday night, the Orange County Health Care Agency said the patient is in good condition, and in isolation in a hospital. They declined to provide any more details about the person, but said the risk of the virus spreading in the county was low.

“There is no evidence that person-to-person transmission has occurred in Orange County,” health officials wrote in the statement.

Doctors will monitor the patient’s close contacts for at least 14 days for any symptoms. However, health officials said anyone who’s had casual contact with an infected person — shopped in the same grocery store, for example — is at “minimal risk for developing infection.”

The number is most likely a lot higher, but China, in their typical coverup fashion has downplayed the virus… “doctors in the city were told not to report “viral pneumonia” in their imaging reports between Jan. 12 and Jan. 16”

Another excerpt from the below article, which gives some indication on how China has handled this and their use of “refrigerating strategy”:

“The first of the patients was admitted to hospital on Dec. 16, more than a month before Chinese authorities began to lock down Wuhan and neighbouring cities in Hubei province.”

Another quote:

Come on guys, don’t panic. Our immune system will work. Not a chance to get sick from a few viruses, you’d need to spend a week with infected family to consider the risk as real.

I’m trusting in the Lord Jesus to keep me safe until the day He wants me to come home to Him.
Psalm 91:3 says, “For He will rescue you from the hunter’s trap and from the deadly pestilence.”
Nonetheless, I still act sensibly: eat right, take a multivitamin with chelated minerals, wash hands, etc.
No use worrying.

The story that was transmitted from animal to man is absurd

The biggest virus right now is probably the media itself feeding on this story in a frenzy. Need to give our immune systems a little more credit and we'll be fine.

Very true kirman.

They’re now saying it’s more like 2 weeks, which is a lot worse.

I’m trusting in myself to keep me safe by keeping away from Chinese people for a while .
Kevin Zambuto’s note book ,
Page 1, paragraph 2, swerve Chinese people with deadly viruses.

I'm trusting in Christ .

Chinese wet markets are disgusting and I am surprised this type of thing does not happen more often.

some interesting facts

Nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

Where have I heard that before.

Aliens LOL

To put things in perspective, one has a higher chance of being killed by a dumba driver in a traffic accident, or by catching the flu.

Even if the Chinese government was under-reporting the number of cases by a thousand fold, that would be ~2.5 million cases and 80 deaths thus far in a country of almost 1.5 billion people.

This virus doesn’t appear to be as lethal as SARS was, and nowhere near the mortality rate of the Ebola virus.

That said, recognition and containment is paramount in the new discoveries like this, but for most people in their day-to-day lives, they’d be making themselves safer by not burying themselves in texting while driving or crossing the street, and those actions are entirely within their control.

agreed

Wait, what? You can look this up …

If you find the whole idea of zoonoses absurd, some reading might be informative. Or not, of course.

Yep. I figure my biggest health risk these days is the time I spend on the freeway driving to see my primary care doctor. Second biggest risk is walking the dog, for which I carry my highly effective strobe flashlight driver-attention-getter. I wish I had aircraft-type strobe lights on my car, but there’s probably a regulation against that.

“Remember the virus only has the special keys to lock it into your lungs …… it is not floating around in the air …the mask stops you from touching your face”
[don’t touch your face, watch your hands]”

A virus is an inert material that can be reactivated in your system once you get it. Like a cold sore. Once you get one, chances are you get several more over the years. You never get rid of herpes. It’s a virus. Bacteria on the other hand doesn’t recur, once you’re rid of it unless you expose yourself to it again.
