I was just wondering how others charge their cell phone in terms of percentage range? For example I always charge mine anywhere and anytime between 65% to 80%. Never under or over.
I was doing ~65%-80% but then have gotten lazy and now do ~65%-90%. However, if I’m traveling (hiking, flying, or know I’ll be out and about for the whole day) then I’ll try and time it to get to 100% before starting the trip and being away from charging for an extended period.
I usually leave mine at home. Nothing is so important that I need to be bothered when I’m not home. I was raised in a time when phones had cords and if you needed to make a call you had to make sure someone down the road wasn’t using the line first. Cell phones make it too easy to be lazy. It’s just a way to keep up with someone we are too lazy to go see.
I charge it when I notice it’s dead. Every 3 or 4 days maybe.
Android, here.
80% pretty much as the maximum. Unless I miss the “warble” the app gives me when it hits 80%. Or if I plan on being out and away the next day, then I go for full charge.
Charge every night and throughout day as needed, no specific %s I watch for…not worried about battery longevity, I’ll have a new phone before I need a new battery.
I seldom allow my smartphone battery state of charge to go above 68 - 70%. Depth of discharge wise I allow it to go down all the way if needed, nothing wrong with this. Smartphones, tablets and etc. do not allow battery voltage to drop below ≈3.2 V, which is quite cautious anyway. I wouldn't mind it going lower.
My batteries live ultra-long lives in case someone's wondering.

Have always charged to 100% with the Samsung S3, S6, S9, and now S10. My son has my old S6, and he’s harder on it than I ever was. It’s still going strong.
I charge it to 100% & sometimes i run it down until 1% & it turns itself off,on iPhone ,the battery is 3 years old & it’s only used 3% of its capacity.
When iPhones or iPads battery is empty & switches off ,it’s not really empty because the voltage is still around 3.4-3.6 ish volts if you were able to measure it (which I’ve done when the battery is out of the phone)
I used to charge whatever whenever but that all changed when I changed the batt on my old iPhone and few days later my phone wouldn’t turn on. I think the culprit was a fake/bad battery. I ordered it from EBay. Then got new phone and started charging differently. My phones 2 yrs old and battery capacity now is 96% .

Actually there is ... you shouldn't go below ~40% if possible because that puts extra strain on the battery (just as the extra strain from going close to 100%)
My phones, tablets, and laptops pretty much stay plugged in all the time. I have chargers everywhere- home, car, desk, etc.
New android phone resolves this issue. When I was using iphone, I had same issues. If you are using iPhone, then I would recommend use high quality charging cable and charger. Avoid low quality chargers. They decrease the battery life.
Android, Pixel 2XL (Pixel 6 Pro is in the mail and will come today yay)
I plug it in at night and just leave it be.
THis device is now 4 years old and still easily holds one day of use with me, so even the fast charging doesn’t harm it so much that it damages it too much in my use-cycle until I get a new one.

Then you are probably in the age where you can have a serious injury quite easily and then you are somewhere without people around and can’t call for help.
Nobody forces you to use your smartphone, but if you have one, it is better to have it on hand in emergency situations. If not for you, then for others.
I mostly adhere to the 20-80% rule, unless I need the extra. I was not too OCD about it, just paid it some attention.
A buddy and I got exactly the same phone, at the same time. I used my 20-80% routine. He simply used his, and plugged it in at night.
4 years of use later he upgraded and gave me his phone. I had come up with a device to hold and discharge test phone and camera batteries pretty accurately.
Mine was 80%
His was 50%
It makes a difference.
Was it worth the hassle?
Depends on the person. May depend on how easy it is to get batteries, how expensive they are, and if they are any good.
Or, if you just use it as an excuse to upgrade.
No entirely clean answer.
I don't use my smart phone very much, but I charge it every night when I go to bed.

I charge when it starts getting to 30%. Also I charge overnight.

When I am at home and I know that I am not going to go outside…
Never go less than 70% and never go above 85%…
If I know that I will not have any outlet or power source to charge (i.e. going to the shops, go shopping, etc) I always charge to 100%.

As a compromise between battery protection and ease of use I do 50-90% cycles.

By comparison flashlights are simple, cheap and easy, with readily replaceable inexpensive batteries.
