ReyLight copper pineapple mini, AAA/10440 flashlight, Nichia 219B 4500K R9080 high CRI LED

Once Rey is back from vacation I’m sure he’ll make it right if it is still acting up.

Yes... no worries here!

Mine worked with an Eneloop fine —- when I went back to try it again that night it wouldn’t come on —tried another AAA alkaline battery nothing — I then tried a Li on cell worked perfectly —- afterwards it worked with the Eneloop —- I didn’t check the voltage — I’m assuming the AAA cells voltage are right on the edge of not working the boost driver properly

Sorry for the late reply. Living in a remote area during the holiday. I can only access the internet now and then. It might be better to pm me incase I miss something.
I will go to the factory and re-check the lux reading when I go back to work.
The holiday was Feb-5, now it is few days longer, because there is a very terrible disease in China, most people wear a mask and stay at home.

Thanks Kevin Manley for the more detailed manual.

Reylight Mini Pineapple Programming Guide

1. Turn on the light.

2. Press the button 8+ times. The light will now blink once, then strobe, blink twice, then strobe, blink three times, then strobe…After 5 blinks and a strobe, the sequence repeats.

a. 1 blink: mode group selection. Press the button to enter this menu.

i. 1 blink: (ML)–2–20–100%

ii. 2nd blink: (ML)–10–40–100%

iii. 3rd blink: (ML)–2–10–50%

iv. 4th blink: (ML)–50–100-strobe-SOS

It then repeats. Press the button during any blink to select that mode group.

b. 2 blinks: mode memory on-off toggle (default off). Press the button during the two blinks or during the strobe after to turn mode memory on. Repeat to turn mode memory off.

c. 3 blinks: moonlight mode off-on toggle (default on). Press the button during the three blinks or during the strobe after to turn moonlight off. Repeat to turn moonlight on.

d. 4 blinks: mode order toggle (default LMH). Press the button during the four blinks or during the strobe after to change the mode order from Low Medium High to High Medium Low. Repeat to reverse the order.

e. 5 blinks: factory reset. Press the button during the five blinks or during the strobe after to reset the light to factory settings.

Just to update...don’t know why or how but after a few on-off cycles and mode switching, the light is working as normal...go figure...

BTW, Rey contacted me via email last night since I had reached out to him when I first received the light...very nice of him during such a difficult time in his country. Very much appreciated!

Stay safe, Rey.

… and enjoy your hollidays.

And there’s a report that new Reylight won’t turn on on NiMh, only alkalines...

Looks like Rey is going to be busy making changes to the driver.

Order placed

Mine does. But it switches off at higher modes and won’t come back until I reinsert the 10440. Very strange behaviour.

Hope Rey can solve the problems [and offer driver PCBs at a discount for us  ].

Not the case for me, I have been running mine exclusively on Eneloops, not a single problem.

Mine won’t run on alkalines or NiMH, only 10440. Probably just some issues with the first batch of drivers.

Hey all, first post here but thought I’d share my experience with this light.

Before you read the rest, know that I love this little light and want to get the pinapple AA version now.

(POST EDITED) It appears that Rey’s site already says that a normal button top battery is not suggested, something we should have read a little better.

Worked great out of the box, my one gripe was the tail switch was a bit sticky and needed to be pressed straight down to function properly. Fixed by unscrewing and re-seating.

Then I dropped the light (threw it accidentally by chasing it) against a tile ceramic floor. Very hard.

This caused the same problem described above, it will give problems with a normal AA and tightened down all the way, but with the shorter rechargeable there’s no issue.

The extra length of the button top on the Energizer ultimate lith. is the difference, and depending how much you tighten can cause either flickering or complete failure to turn on. Loosening one turn fixes it.

Trying to work the action back and forth seemed to make it better, making me think the board itself is possibly unseated a bit? I am no flashlight engineer so this is as much as I can say.

Otherwise, the light works great and I absolutely love it. Honestly I’m amazed it took the abuse I’ve dished out and the light only started giving issues after I smashed it. Fast shipping too, lovely tint.

So far mine runs equally well on NiMH, or 10440 without any issues.

Rey says on his site what type and length batteries to use . There is even a pic to show what is acceptable, along with length measurement .

Can rey just tell us what is an approved make/model battery to use?

Well I feel silly now. According to Rey’s site a button top shouldn’t even work yet here we are using them!

Edited my post from before.

Patina is starting to develop on mine and I love it.

And the tail switch feels good too.

Hmmm...I took the info on the website to mean that some button top 10440 are too long as illustrated in the photos. Regular alkaline, Eneloops and Energizer lithium’s are all button tops ( at least the ones I have) but not in the extreme as illustrated. I don’t think he meant to exclude the use of all button top batteries...at least I hope not!

PM coming.
