ClipSwitch Flashlights

Thanks G0OSE. I’ve not had accidental activation issues with any of my Streamlights but many find their switches too stiff. The Eagtac D series lights have some nice recessed switches that are easy to press and don’t come on inadvertently either.

That said, there are other advantages to a clip switch. Many people, myself included, forget to turn their lights off. Many a time I have pulled my standard switch light out of my pocket either to find it on or the battery dying/dead.
With a clip switch, as long as it’s clipped the light not only can’t come on, it can’t be on.

Also if your light accidentally slips out of your pocket, you’re much more likely to notice a light that’s on versus a light that’s off. Long as your pocket clip is intact, a clip switched light will be shining brightly to alert you that it’s not where it should be.

Updated 2/1/2020: As stated before, the person with the best comment or video will win the blue ClipSwitch Microstream USB (winner will be picked February 15’th, 2020 8:00 p.m. PST). A random commenter will win the black one on leap day and it is a bit special all its own. During testing, it was noticeably brighter to my eye than the three other Streamlight Microstream USBs I had in my possession at the time. So I set it on my lumen tube and it is indeed 20% brighter on both the low and high settings!

My multiplier is 0.23 so as you can see it puts out around 300 lumens on high (compared to the 250 ANSI rating) and it’s 60 lumens on low instead of 50. All the other Microstreams are putting out within a margin of error of their advertised rating on my lumen tube.

It’s a cool idea, especially with some of the more powerful hot rods we now have available.

Have you thought about getting them into the hands of some of the more well known reviewers here and/or on youtube? That is one of the better ways to get eyes on your product out in the community.

Yeah, good idea. Who would you recommend I could send some to? I was thinking of trying Matt from AdventureSport.

Teaser trailer for the ClipSwitch. It’s the flashlight that would have chosen Harry Potter.

Who else would be interested in one? Don’t be shy, even if you don’t have a clever comment you can help make clip switches mainstream by showing your interest.

I’m now giving the black one away to a random commenter on leap day! If you can’t think of something to say, just reply “interested”.

I’m interested in getting my hands on this bright idea. Count me in.

interested

As I understand correctly the clip controls the switch.
So if you are a busy person (MD) you don’t have to switch the light off.
Just tuck it in your breast pocket and the light is off. Take it out and the light is on.
That is what I would call a quick draw light.

I like the concept, and those streamlights look handsome.

Btw, the pics in the OP are huge and the page takes a lot of time to load. Mind that if you show pictures as a percentage of the screen, that is just a display thing, the full picture is still loaded in the page.

I’m interested and here is a link that I hope will help you.

Interested.

I carry a AAA torch daily clipped into my side pocket and I’d like to give the clip switch a go.

Interested.

Not only is good for medical purposes/people…

Think on a car mechanic who has the flashlight in the pocket and is constantly taking out the flashlight of the pocket, turning it on, pointing to the work area and, when done, reverse process…

This idea simplifies and makes things fast and easy.

I want to test one of those microstrem usb!!!

Each time I think more about the clipswitch, it makes me thing how no one did it before!…

Interested. In testswitching a Microstream Clipswitch, please. :+1:

seems handy if using flashlight a lot.

Looks interesting. Would like to find out how it works in real-world use though.

cool thanks. like this.

That is amazing. BLF members are truly an alete crowd. I work in aviation and this would be awesome for Quality Control group. I would actually have to give it to one of them if I were to win. I would talk to Barry at Sofirn, maybe this could become something they could make if there was enough interest. I bet I could sell a few and they have a couple of pen lights they could work from.
