MF01 Mini / MT07- Mod/Upgrade - Copper Heatsink Cover Plate

I did not measure but I put mine on and it lasts at highest ramp for over a minute. Probably longer but that is good. I did not convert F to C in the beginning so I thought it was no better but once I set room temp and thermal limit correctly it is now as expected and I really like this light even more. Thanks man of light!

P.S. I used MX4 on sides of plate and everywhere as shown By man of light, and I have a copper head with Aluminum body. I did not have any tolerance issue getting my plate to slide into the copper head. I was generous with extra MX4 on the sides and so MX4 gets on the head’s inner threads a little as you slide it in but that’s ok I just leave it there. this way I have a good thermal path to the the head. I read the MX4 works even better after several cycles on/off. Lining up the screws is really the hardest part and would be same for all minis. Put your screws into the plate first and it’s easier to line up.

Thanks for your feedback ghost face :+1:

@All interested, I’ve just updated the OP (post #1) and post #2 with fresh information on the status of the 2nd and 3rd batch, please take a look.

Hi MOL

Do you also consider to produce another heatsink copper for the FFE07? it is also getting hot....

Please explain in detail. It’s 7135 chips are heating the MCU prematurely?

Payment and details sent

Shame the flash light didn’t come like this!

Pleased you have offered them as the light was a bit of a let down though luckily it was bought at a _reasonable _discount.

Payment and PM with details sent.

Thank You very much!

Can i get in for 2?

Thought you were only doing one batch? I finally installed mine. Works perfectly. After the drop down it sheds the heat rather quickly for another run at turbo

Very interested!

Hi there, I’m interested in one. Thx.

Yes, that’s what I thought. Since I have never organized something like this, I didn’t know what the effort is. When I realized how much work it was, I thought only the one batch, not more.
But after the first batch was delivered and I was asked whether I would do more, the effort seemed manageable and I decided to continue for the community.

Well, the FFE07 has no design flaw that can be corrected by a heatsink, like the MF01 mini / MT07.
Yes the E07 gets hot quickly, this is because the body volume is rather small in comparison, but the heat regulation works quite well on this and there is no bottleneck to solve.
The only way I can think of to thermally improve the E07, is to develop an alternative head design. Slightly longer (10mm), optimized cooling fins design and made of copper with way more mass. But then the modification would be quite complex, you would have to exchange all the head innards and the price would might be too high. Not sure if there is enough interest for such a thing.

I just have to say that I’ve had mine fixed with the heatsink for a couple of weeks now and I absolutely love it. This has become my favorite light. Mostly due to the fact that it can sustain the output for so much longer than any of my other high performance lights. This light was once the least best-performing light of mine and now it is definitely the best. Thanks again man of light.

:+1: This is true. I have several flashlight that outperform this one in output and time before thermal throttling, but this one is several times smaller and lighter. The mod made it my favorite flashlight and I carry it daily. Its really good and stable. The output is amazing for its size and the heat transfers much faster to the flashlight body now, I can even warm up my hands nicely now (brrrr winter)

Interested in one piece:)
Thx

Thank you guys for the feedback :+1:

I also use my modded MF01 mini now more often then my D4Sv2 or FFE07. I like the size and the beam profile of it. I ordered a full copper MT07 and look forward to modify it also, will do some comparison runs then.

PS: updated post 2#, interest list.

Interested in one piece if you run another batch. Eyeing an all copper MF01 mini….

Man…. seems like everyone is satisfying with it.

Im tempting to get 3. Just gotta check my budget and not letting the wifey know :stuck_out_tongue:

when is the next batch run?

I am in for one of the too…

I need one of these send to miami usa Fl 33160
How much total shipped
Time frame
How do I pay you paypal ok ?
Thanks

Received and installed.

Excellent, the torch head gets so much hotter now it is clear that none of the heat was been transferred to the body. Definitely a serious design flaw.

At least with this the light can now perform to its potential.

Thanks again Man of Light
