Test / Review: Keeppower 14500 800mAh (Black)

Keeppower 14500 800mAh (Black)

Official specifications:

  • 14500 800mAh Protected Rechargeable Battery
  • Min Capacity: 750mAh
  • Typical Capacity: 800mAh
  • Normal Voltage: 3.7V
  • Quality Lithium Ion rechargeable cell
  • In Built Safety Circuitry
  • Maximum capacity and reliability
  • High Discharge Rate (Max 2C)
  • Protection Circuit (Against overcharge, over discharge, over current and short-circuit.)
  • 4.2 volts max voltage and 3.6-3.7 volts nominal voltage.

The battery has no problem keeping the rated capacity, even the 2A trace is very close to rated capacity.

Conclusion

There is not much to say about this battery, with a Sanyo cell inside and a protection at around 3A, I will call it a very good battery.

Notes and links

Keeppower is a OEM manufacturer, i.e. many of the batteries they produce is sold with other names on them.

The batteries was supplied by Keeppower for review.

It does look like a good battery. There is not much available in this category. Wish we know what brands used them and where they are available.

Yes it does. I hope Keeppower has a plan with letting me test a lot of their batteries (more tests are coming) i.e. they will probably be available soon.

Where can you buy these? I searched google without any results, only a few saying "min order: 100 pc" and still no price.

I am interested in some good 14500's to replace my TF Flame 14500's

Considering 14500’s are used in single-cell way 99% of the time you can use unprotected cell - which you can get in various places.

e.g. here: http://www.orbtronic.com/batteries-chargers/14500-sanyo-3.7v-840mah-li-ion-rechargeable-battery-cell-aa-size/

And considering that most single 14500 lights has a boost converter (So that they also can work with AA batteries) that will drain the battery to below 0.8 volt, the unprotected cell is a bad ide in most lights.

Oh crap, I totally forgot about that. Thanks for reminding! Indeed, 14500-light with a boost converter would be quite unsafe to use with unprotected cells.

I want protected ones so I dont drain them too low.

Any idea if they are available in singles or pairs HKJ?

Sorry, but no.

I know it’s months later, but for reference I found these on an Australian ebay listing:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-Protected-Sanyo-Panasonic-UR14500P-800mAh-3-7V-Rechargeable-Lithium-battery-/280880529849
I bought a pair and they’re labelled Keeppower.

We’ll have them soon too  They test extremely well, and rival the Nitecore 14500 which is our in-house king now.

Well, tested them and while they perform admirably, they are just too long to be considered. The lower capacity version is shorter but still can’t dethrone the Nitecore — and to a lesser degree the AW.

Hey HKJ
I would like to ask you if you heard anything about the Keeppower DLG protected 14500 800mAh? how does it compare to the Sanyo cell?

Not yet.

KumaBear has talked about sending a couple of DLG batteries to me for test, so there is a good probability that I will be testing them.

The next 14500 I will publish a test for is probably the Efest IMR cells.

Thanks for the clarification bro!
I guess they will be one of the best budget batteries for the price KumaBear is offering. Ill get a set to replace my 14500 Trustfire Flames.
Will be looking forward to see your latest findings 8)
keep up the great work

at almost 53mm aren’t they too long for certain lights?

It will be that, but remember that the light must be made for LiIon, before you can use this battery. It has the voltage of 3 NiMH in series!

hi henrik, yes i’ll be using them for Quarks and SC52.

the zebra ZL584 is just 52mm and is already protruding out of the Quark’s body tube slightly. i noticed that the ZL584 has a low-profile nipple

the keeppower seems to have a taller nipple

They are waay too long for Nitecore D10. I have to keep using my old Trustfires.

The KeepPower 14500s we carry were never advertised as Sanyo, and they are listed on our website as having a DLG ICR14500 internal cell. A Sanyo version does exist but we did not claim that our version is Sanyo.
