Coronavirus **personal experiences** thread

I honestly don’t see how they can be when people are dying in their homes unrecorded, also they cannot record the death as this strain of Coronavirus without a test, they have openly admitted running out of the tests so the cause of death recorded as pneumonia & how many died before they could even be tested? how many are still dying at home trying to get hospital beds ?

I think you have to be nuts to believe that figure is accurate even if they are doing there very best to keep the figures true (which i highly doubt) i cant see it being possible with this current situation

You are talking about undocumented cases. How is China, or any other country suppose to count those?
Obviously those numbers include only confirmed cases, it clearly says on every site that display these stats. Of course that if you could include unconfirmed cases the numbers would be larger.

Do you know the rules on here? We are NOT suppose to post divisive political Opinions/comments.It causes controversy, especially when it is based on ones opinion and not the facts.

@kat: Please go back and edit or delete your posts that contain political commentary. Thank you in advance.

To everyone else: Please don’t respond publicly to problem posts, just report them and/or contact me via PM. And please be very careful to avoid politics and controversies in this thread. Thanks.

One thing to keep in mind about this comparison table is that the fatality rate for Coronavirus cannot be accurately assessed just yet since all of this is happening as we speak. Some of the infected will inevitably become dead, but it will take more time for this to happen. Maybe in a year, after it all blows over, we’ll be able to do a proper comparison.

And if you’ve quoted a contentious post that is later deleted, deleting the quoted copy would be a kindness to everyone.

That too, thanks.

I’d have to agree, also based on the size of the response we are seeing, building multiple hospitals , locking down entire cities , evacuating people internationally and quarantining them my hunch is that this is probably somewhere between Sars & Mers , I think the 2% figure is a little ridiculous as did the poor doctor who tried to blow the Whistle we won’t actually know for sometime like you said.

One source estimates that 25% of those who get infected will require intensive care, now if they actually get it many will survive, the problem however is that when you get to epidemic levels intensive care simply wont be available and those people will probably die. Source

My heart goes out for them it really does, those poor people trapped in Wuhan loosing loved ones not even allowed proper funerals its just awful. the would needs to help them beat this not simply evacuate there own

Shenzhen has hundreds of confirmed cases by now!!

He did not invent the virus; he discovered it.

Li Wenliang did not invent the virus and saying he was killed rather than dying from it is a huge disservice to him and his family.

Perhaps you should edit your post to reflect that?

it just means that not only the elderly and weak and pre-ill hoomans are killed off but also the young and strong . it really depends on the course and severity of the infection .

the virus knows no hooman boundaries

Digital viruses are invented by humans. Not the biological ones, they are a product of natures evolution.

I have 5 Aliexpress packages pending for a week, in 5 different stores. Any orders not even handled yet, and no response in Message Center. Do you know if they will soon get to job as normal again? Next week?

I dont think anything is leaving china anytime soon, and ships are being refused docking if they have come from china, airfreight from any of the locked down provinces is not going to happen either

(CNN) The novel coronavirus that’s sickening thousands globally — and at least six people in the US — is inspiring countries to close their borders and Americans to buy up surgical masks quicker than major retailers can restock them. There’s another virus that has infected 19 million Americans across the country and killed at least 10,000 people this season alone. It’s not a new pandemic — it’s influenza. The 2019-2020 flu season is projected to be one of the worst in a decade, according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. At least 180,000 people have been hospitalized with complications from the flu, and that number is predicted to climb as flu activity swirls.

I complain about this at length at work. If people’d only stay the Hell at home when they’re sick, they wouldn’t take down a dozen others with them.

Take everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
If you are sick with flu-like illness, CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. (Your fever should be gone for 24 hours without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.)
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. After using a tissue, throw it in the trash and wash your hands.
Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs like flu

if this goes global it will make influenza seem like a nice treat. the thing these reports miss is that influenza has had centuries to spread it is everywhere, this novel virus is new we have zero immunity to it and right now it is confined to a small number despite that its claimed more lives than sars and has 4800 currently in critical condition, imagine how bad it will be if it goes global like influenza has if it gets out of control and spreads in the same way it will be 10x worse.

Got to look at the long term implications , yes right now influenza kills significantly more people but what about in a year or two when this has spread around the world?

Comparing the stats of a fresh epidemic that’s just starting out, with a well established seasonal world wide pandemic really has no merit, ask yourself what it will be like at the same levels?

Here are live stats from John Hopkins. Yesterday was 32,884 with around 400 deaths.
