As for colds, if I know one’s “going around” (insert another chorus of “Stay the Hell home!!!”), I’ll load up on vitamin C. Up to 10g/day is fine; more’n that just buys you mild diarrhœa.
I never get “just a cold”. Whatever I end up picking up when those walking disease-vectors go aerosolising live-virus all over the place, ends up knocking me out for a coupla weeks, and add another 3wks ‘til I purge all the crap that collected in my lungs and sinuses.
So I just forewarn everyone at work, if I get sick, I’m going to be outsick. No working from home, sure as Hell no soldiering through it at work. 100% recuperation effort, every other priority is rescinded.
One place where I worked, they had 10 fully-paid sick-days, and another 10 at half-pay. So you literally had to be out a whole month — 20 workdays — to be completely on your own.
Where I am now, it’s only 5 days, so of course people come in dripping and snorking and doing all other sorts of vile things. Ecch.
An eye opener from a couple people who’ve lived in china for 20yrs, and both married to chinese woman. One is married to a chinese physician, not sure what the other one does. They are both speak fluent mandarin. Way more people infected than being reported
Approximately 8.75 million people live in NYC according to the internet. Wu Han has a population of 11 million. It has to be an almost unimaginable hell for people in that city if food becomes in low supply. I have heard medical services are just barely able to help the coronavirus sufferers. Lots of people in an area of that size have other medical needs also. It is so sad.
ALERT: USPS WILL BE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDING THE GUARANTEE ON PRIORITY MAIL EXPRESS INTERNATIONAL DESTINED FOR CHINA AND HONG KONG, EFFECTIVE MONDAY, FEB. 10, 2020, DUE TO WIDESPREAD AIRLINE CANCELLATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS INTO THIS AREA.
Just saw this alert while checking the tracking on a package.

Just saw a video someone posted of the inside of those rapidly built hospitals. It seems they aren't hospitals at all, just beds, no medical supplies, no hot water, toilet outside 200 metres away.

There is a Dutch proverb that (badly translated) says: better a good copy, than a bad idea.
So unless you come up with a good idea ……….
For the cure goes the same: it probably will be ready when the next outbreak comes along.
But that’s not the greatest headache for the authorities. That’s the people itself. They want more, and they get more, bit by bit. The people now have reached third base, figuratively speaking. But they long for the one thing that is still missing: freedom of thought and speech. One spark is enough to set things in motion. Why all the weird cover-ups.
In this day and age word no longer proceeds with the speed of sound. Today word proceeds with the speed of light. And unlike sound, light travels faster than bullets.

Extending the holiday or calling news something else doesn’t change the facts
The Convoy Store on AE updated today to show delay in processing orders another week or two.
The coronavirus may continue to infect more until warmer weather arrives in China areas of infection and other countries where the virus has spread.
A small group from the World Heath Organization was allowed entry into China but the request to enter from the US CDC has been denied.
I didn’t realise I was trying to change facts !
I’m just repeating what I heard on the news.
I’m sorry this virus has made your first world problem worse, you have my sympathy.

Is indoor plumbing a new concept?
No, but they missed an idea to copy. The emergency hospitals from the SARS outbreak were on the brink of being visited by a wrecking ball when they were needed again. So they copied that. I think it had no plumbing. Because after SARS it was no longer useful for them. BTW Chinese plumbing is nothing like your/our plumbing. It’s more of a virus travel agency.
These hospitals are like olympic villages. The first athletes leave while it is still under construction. And when the last athletes are gone, it becomes a ghost town.

From the video, it seems like people are just rounded up and dumped there if they are suspected of carrying the virus. Quite a lack of humanity going on at the moment.

Restaurant workers usually don’t get any paid sick days. I wonder if many can afford to stay home sick.
Around here the wait staff usually get in trouble for messing up the schedule.
Miss time in December when it’s busy and you won’t get many shifts in January when it’s slow.

My 2 cents.
1) Train to Busan is a great zombie film.
2) More and better gadgets are sold every year.
3) The world is a mess.
Coronavirus escapes China.
Go crazi
Train to Busan
So, some people call it the Wuhan coronavirus.
Others call it the novel coronavirus, though I don't quite understand that one.
My older sister in North Carolina works at a hospital, and they informally call it the kung fu virus.
Pretty bad, huh?

Bra-less, in Wuhan (had a run on face masks early on)
Raccoon says:
“Others call it the novel coronavirus, though I don’t quite understand that one.”
Squirrel says:
“I think “novel” means new in the way it is used. However I certainly could be wrong.”

I did a little research...
"A novel coronavirus means that this strain has not previously been identified in humans."
And, yes, "novel" means "new."

Hopefully the CDC will find a KUNG POW! vaccine before the Hunanvirus
hit our shores.
