Great news! I was waiting for this! :+1:

Just curious. Will copper pills be finally made for aluminum hosts? Simon mentioned a run was to be produced long ago, but looks like the thing got frozen. :???:

There are more than enough enthusiasts around here to guarantee sales of a nice batch of copper pills for alu hosts/flashlights, in my honest opinion.

You have a funny nickname! Welcome to BLF! And hello to you from Russia!

I sincerely regret Friend, that your grandfather is not with you! And I didn’t mean to offend you! We are from different countries, although I thought you were Russian! So Google translator is to blame! :person_facepalming:

BLF is a worldwide community Pizdosina, and you must understand our names can sound very different for people of different cultures. I just used the DeepL translator and “Pizdosina” translates as “coño/pussy” from Polish (Polaco) to spanish/english. Go figure!

Will this one have Biscotti? 17mm Driver US $5.78 | 17mm / 22mm driver for luminus sst40 LED 淘宝网 - 淘!我喜欢

No, about the fact that this is his name and surname - he is lying. Brazenly lying.
This is a purely Russian curse recorded in English letters (transliteration). A very indecent curse. Neither Polish nor Spanish.

I seem to even know who writes this. He has just worsening conditions in early spring and autumn …

I have this driver and the firmware isn’t bad, just clunky abs needs improvement. Otherwise it’s a great driver.

True, it is just pure curse. And I personally straight hate curses, so please be kind and go your way. We go ours, you go yours

And with that, let’s close that chapter and get back on topic

What MCU is on those CC drivers that’s allowing biscotti?

Oh, yes, i even used it on my Q8, it fits exactly !

This is great news, I definitely need such an adapter for my Q8!

Me too!

I would need 4pcs.

Simon, you said Biscotti is available for the ∅17mm SST-40 linear driver. I guess Biscotti can also be ordered for the ∅20mm SST-40 linear and the ∅22mm SST-40 linear drivers as they use the same microcontroller. Can you confirm? Thanks.

What about the planned copper pills for alu S2+ flashlights? They will sell, for sure.

The Copper pills for the S2+ are on his sight Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com

Sorry my mistake only for the copper version.

Yes, Simon said he planned to order at least a batch of copper pills for aluminum hosts/flashlights, i.e. pills with standard threading. Theoretically, they were to be available before last Christmas. But @#$%.

I also wonder what good reason is behind the different threading of the 2nd generation copper flashlights and hosts. There was a run of copper pills crafted, and many were sold before lads and lasses noticed the different threading. The thing cost Simon money, and since the pills are only for the newer copper S2+ flashlights/hosts, the remaining stock is a hard sell. Nothing is random, you know.

I wonder if the remaining “newer threading” pills could be reworked/converted to standard threading easily. The newer threading is square or sort of, while the standard threading is either unified, american national or isometric (I think, don't really know):

Are the 5000mA “SST40” drivers regulated? I tried looking up the components but no luck. Just need to know if these are linear or FET.

Thanks!

EDIT:

Okay. Found the components. Alpha and Omega Semiconductors AON7220. It’s an N-channel FET designed for high switching frequencies and reasonably low Rds(on). I suppose there could still be a feedback loop on the driver somewhere that regulates PWM to keep current in check? But does the LED still effectively see ‘direct drive’ currents?

I want to use one of these to run a CSLNM1.TG in due to its low profile, single sided construction.

My guess is the pitch of the thread cut in the copper pill and threads per inch are different than the previous version of the copper S2+ and the aluminum versions.I think that alone will make a rework extremely difficult or impossible even if the OD of the pill is the same.
