Favorite movies of all time ?

Delicatessen: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101700/

Another masterpiece from Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the one who made Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (Amelie)

I saw Knives Out (2019).

It is excellent.

The acting and music are great.

I love movies that are murder mysteries that have a good twist in them.

The murder mystery genre is not as popular as it used to be, but this a good one.

I just noticed something...

The last three movies that I have seen have been amazingly good (and are in this thread.)

That doesn't usually happen to me, but the three movies did get very good scores on IMDB.

Probably my most liked movie of all time is “The Crow”. There’s more behind the making of the movie with Brandon’s death that makes it memorable but the movie itself is what I think makes it the best.
“Braveheart” is a close second in my opinion.

  1. Initial D (on Netflix) not the animated version but the live version. I've watched it about a dozen times (seriously). Can't really explain why I like it.
  2. Alien and Aliens (on Netflix and Blue Ray)- Because in the movie people are so stupid. They never learn thus making it fun to watch, LOL! I've also watched these over and over again.

I’m looking forward to this. What a great cast!

Title says: Favorite movies of all time, not what you saw recently.

If that's directed towards me, I only put movies that I really love in this thread, though they are what I just watched.

The ones that don't make the cut go in the other movie thread.

If I listed all of my favorite movies, it would be a really long and boring list, so I post about the last movie I saw in the appropriate thread.

TL;DR:

There is a method to my madness.

Survivors of a space ship crash must survive a planet inhabited by brutal aliens that can only be repelled with bright lights.

A must watch for any Flashlight fan

Agreed that “Pitch Black” is a flashlight lover’s ‘must see’.

2001: A Space Odyssey

Kubrick takes a ride beyond human intellect. Greatest film ever made.

The Irishman.

I like film, almost to the exclusion of radio and TV. There’s a lot of movies that rank #1 for me personally. In the hundreds. Depends on mood at the time. If I watch Cuckoo’s Nest in a certain frame of mind, I don’t care for it… Remember “Dr. Sardonicus?” There’s a lot of B and C movies that are number one now and then. It is quite impossible to call one film an everyday favorite. It’s kind of like trying to pick out a favorite flashlight. I can, but tomorrow it may be different.

I saw Jojo Rabbit (2019).

I love this movie.

You have to know what happened in World War II to fully appreciate the film, but if you do, it's a real treat.

The music is great, and the acting superb.

The script is amazingly good, and the movie is very funny and has heart.

If you don't know already, the director adapted the screenplay, played the role of Hitler, and is Jewish.

He's directed some other great movies including Eagle vs Shark and Thor: Ragnarok.

His portrayal of Hitler is done really well, though he didn't really nail the mustache.

Of course that's just a minor detail.

I saw it last weekend. I have mixed feelings about it. I think it was a gutsy, artistically bold and creative movie to put together. I can’t fault the quality of the acting, filming and direction. Maybe it’s because I’m a student of history, and WW2 history in particular, that I had difficulty laughing at the portions of the film at which I was supposed to laugh. Maybe I have known too many people with numbers tattooed on their forearms to be entirely happy with the way any kooky comedy about genocide is put together.

black cat white cat-emir kusturica:)

Regarding Jojo Rabbit:

I know about the atrocities of war, but I also do not take life too seriously, and I can find humor in even the darkest of situations.

I thought the movie handled the material very well, though not everyone enjoys everything.
