Wrist watches. Post pics, if you EDC one!

Nato straps, thank you, I will remember that. Yes the hands and hour markers all glow quite well in the dark. Much nicer checking the time with it during the night than hitting the button on my phone and blinding myself.

I could see myself falling down the rabbit hole of watches just like I have lights and knives over the years. I just recently found out about these bolt action pens. There are so many nice ones at reasonable prices. I really need to stay off the internet when I’m bored. I find way too many things to spend money on.

don;t fall for ‘investing’ in expensive watches.

they do not really appreciate, or rather some do but it is very hard to guess which ones.

there is another kind of [plastic] neoprene strap too, expensive

and there is a bracelet style i like called engineer
there are $22 chinese copies on ebay that are good—search for super engineer bracelet

I was about to order an SKX homage then I went for something more dramatic.
Steel Dive Tuna with NH35 movement, sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel:

Bertucci are VERY well regarded field watches. They have some with tritium tubes too which are very popular due to being as dependable as Marathon but much cheaper.

That looks fantastic! That bracelet (I think Strapcode calls it the “Hexad” design?) matches the style of the Tuna without being too “busy” like an Engineer bracelet IMO.

Dad n lad G shocks

Made this one up, 5600 with a camo bezel and bracelet from ali, only a saving of £1250 from casio! Yes their ti square(granted its a 5000 which is a better watch) is £1400….ouch

In today rangeman 9400, love it, 1 press stop watch, mb6, solar and even tells you when the sun rises and sets

Christopher Ward trident titanium pro 600

… Trusty 1680 Sub and Doxa 1200T …

Jaw dropping weklund!

I hope you’ll keep us updated. I have a couple of their DX3 field watches. It’s basically your watch but with a resin case. I love the simple, straightforward, and uncomplicated face. The high contrast is easy to read. Mine have held up wonderfully. Of course, I don’t do anything “extreme” while wearing them.

The nylon bands on those watches look sharp but they aren’t very comfortable. I’ve tried a few of their other bands. Bertucci’s canvas band is the most comfortable by a mile.

Incoming … Helm Komodo

That Komodo looks great. I see they are out of stock. Did you order yours a while back?

I ordered my watch as soon as the sale went public on February 17, 2020. All of the 200 watches available were sold out in less than 20 minutes. I suggest you register on Helm’s website to be notified when the next batch will be available.

I am the proud owner of a few specimens of the Vanuatu and Khuraburi as well. I highly recommend Helm as I have had nothing but very positive experiences with their watches as well as their Customer Service …

it’s pretty.

Just curious - what led you to this rather than a Citizen or Seiko?

wle (new Citizen A-T Promaster Skyhawk Blue Angels owner)

Very nice weklund, as always super nice watches.

I do it because I like the ” off the beaten path” look, and uniqueness. The micro brands tend to go bolder on styling and color.

I am a longtime Seiko and Citizen fan. I have been collecting watches for some 30 years or so. Attached are photos of my stock Citizen Eco Diver, modified Seiko Solar Chrono Diver and Seiko Monster.

I installed a Yobokies sapphire AR-coated crystal and Plonger handset on the Chrono.

Monster has been fitted with Yobokies AR sapphire crystal, dial, handset, and dial relume by Everest.

Very nice weklund :sunglasses:

The Elgin in the photo has been my dress-up watch for the past few years, but the blingy diamond chips were kind of over the top. Lately it has started losing time (currently about 10 minutes per day) and it never did that before, even when the battery was getting weak. So I started looking around and decided to buy a Seiko solar. It arrived today. Its looks are much more versatile; I can dress up or dress down and it’ll still look like it belongs.

For me this is a massive watch investment.

Hello everyone.
I just got myself my first automatic watch cos on my Skagen the strap is broken and on my Traser P5900 the movement has gone the same path.

I like field watches and my arm diameter is the same as my wife’s so the Seiko 5 SNK809K1 fits perfectly (still looking big on my wrists)

It’s also the first watch for me with a metal bracelet, the nylon strap version (SNK809K2) was the same €80. After getting used of the weight it feels good though but this strap is seriously catching on my fur :stuck_out_tongue:

Somewhere I’ve seen a link to a $20 replacement strap but I can’t find it back, ittook me half a year to find out which watch I want.
(Or is there a trick with the metal band except of waiting till wrist baldness?)

The other option was a solar (Seiko) Alba AEFD557 for half the price of the ‘5’ but I though my 7yo son who’s amazed of mechanical things like elevators and (open) VCRs would like the see through back.
Well, he liked the box. Just like Wall-E. At least he couldn’t through away the watch. Just like Wall-E.

Aynways, eventually I’ll make a strap for it, most likely 20mm nylon with leather underneath just like I modded my Traser one from faux leather to real one when the second one started to go into pieces.

And if I still like the watch in some months I’ll might ask my local watchmaker how much it would cost to change the dual date disk to a Kanji/engl one. I’d like that a lot more than the arabic one which (weird enough) seems to be the JDM standard on Seiko watches…

those look nice, i just can’t quit solar/radio/quartz though
SO accurate
no work required ever
