Nice sum up MascaratumB. I’ve enjoyed following your post from start to finish. Its nice to see the other members hear chip in with parts.
Did you get any odd looks when you were taking pictures on what looks like the side walk?
Very nice ” MascaratumB ”
You project and presentation has set the bar for the rest of us to reach
I really enjoyed looking at your pics and reading all the experiences.
Pretty sure you will be hard to beat, Great Job
Thanks for following it an giving your appreciation here That is also part of the spirit (although I subscribed all the entries this year, I can’t follow and comment them all :weary: )
Well, about the odd looks…I took those photos in my lunch break in the parking lot of my workplace, outside. My girlfriend was with me, so I guess that it helped avoiding the odd looks a little bit
She actually gave me some ideas and took the photo with the holster on my jeans
Except for my friends that probably thought I was crazy… Well…maybe not , as they know me for some years now
Again, thank you for your comments
Hey CNCman, thank you
Well, as I said above, when the mod is “simple” (although with many ‘small’ things), the photos need to fill the eyes
I am sure that you and the other modders (and builders) are capable and will do much better than what I did!
However, I am proud of it, I love the final result and I tried to do it (the mod and the thread) mostly as an experience and not so much as part of the “contest”.
It was like making the review of a flashlight, but in many phases, and learning a lot during the process
I am also looking to the lumens data and beam on yours :smiling_imp:
Thanks for looking! :+1:
I like the way you summarized all the results, what you have done and what you have learned. I think this is the way that the OL contest is meant to work.
You have got a homemade custom flashlight with high-end look now. Cool idea to take some outdoor pictures.
Seeing your beamshots I think that one of my next quads will feature the Luxeon V 4000K. Nice flood and tint!
Thanks mate
I tried to show precisely that, my process and learning. Others’ would be different, but this was the possible way for me
About the beamshots, hopefully tonight I will take some outdoor photos and I’ll post them later!
I haven’t tried outdoor so I may be surprised as well!
The beam and the tint of these leds are probably the best or second best in my lights! (Wuben TO50R is probably the best )
I’ll show it later!!
Thanks for looking
+1 :+1:
A lot of effort went into this build and I don’t mean just the light and accessories but the write up too. Great job
Thanks mate!

Eheh, the mod has probably taken less time than taking photos and writing, I confirm
The mod was my learning , the write up was the way to show it
Thanks for your words
So, the mod was finished, but the thread is not! And an important thing was missing, if you know my style!
The night beamshots were missing, and…that’s what I’ll show below
I must say one thing: I got surprised myself!! :o
The beam and tint of this flashlight is absolutely gorgeaus! It is possible that the photos don’t actually show how it looks in real “life”!
Floody but has a longe range, and the tint…simply perfect! I don’t miss High CRI leds when using Luxeon V Leds and this flashlight has only proven that even more! It is soft and smooth to the eyes, very pleasant even when the light is on full power!
It really makes me happy to have this final result!
The rest… see yourself below

And this is all!
I think it is pretty impressive but let me know what you think
Bravo!!
Bravo!!
Thank you
So much work! But the outcome is really worth the effort. Very beautiful!

Thanks Flashly Mike
Yup, indeed it worths every effort! This light is a “dream” for me and I really love it It was a long time imagined mod, and fortunatelly the OL Contest this year had a place for modifications too!
I’m happy with it
And I’ll be looking forward to see yours too
Very well done, you have a lovely light at the end of it, something to treasure. Big pat on the back for you!

Thank you G00SE!! :+1:
I can tell you that if I ever had to sell my lights to pay for food, this light would not be sold after all
The host is perfect for a quad version and I guess it worked pretty well despite all :sunglasses:
Cool light and holster i will have to try and make a holster similiar to yours
Huge thanks for the support!
Well done on completing your build :+1:
Thanks for the great summary of this thread CRX
I guess it shows the path and the result very well

Hey, thanks EDSG
Your light also turned our very nicely Great work!
About the holster, recycling materials is something that can be quite nice and this one turned out quite “pretty” (although double tape is not the best option in terms of longevity )
