Amazon Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

But to get in on Prime deals you must be a member.

It's a common practice by many companies to offer something for a new signup.

Amazon used to have special Prime membership pricing on Prime Day but I have not seen it in a while.

I cancelled my membership on Prime Day and then joined with the lower price.

unfortunately mine is payed up for 9 more months —- things like years of loyalty means nothing to these companies anymore — my first year of prime was $69.99 —I can’t remember how long ago that was

I’m piggybacked on my wife’s account. 2 for the price of 1.

amazon and aliexpress both have CR2032s under $.10 each, though you may have to buy 20 of them
at least the shelf life is long

most button batteries and coin cells can be bought for under $.20 this way

some alkalines like LR44 can be under $.08

Every other year I order 5 or 10 packs of all the common lithium button cells from Aliexpress, and they cost $2 or less. Sometimes the batteries run 70% as long as the brand names, but I get 10 for the price that I would pay for one locally. For some devices if the batteries are hard to replace, I pay extra and order Energizer or Duracell from Amazon.

Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered one.

Just fyi on the DF008, KD had it here for $30: http://kaidomain.com/S024233-TrustFire-DF008-Cree-XM-L2-700-Lumens-3-Mode-LED-Diving-Flashlight-with-Holster-Black,

and on Ali for $23 here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32790377769.html?spm=2114.12057483.0.0.27e31c02bBNPlO

It's been listed since 2017 at best, rated at 700 lumens, and it's driven at 2.4 amps, as the KD listing says. No way can it do 700m (meters) like the Amazon listing says - Ali store says 200-300 meters.

For $10, probably still a good deal. Maybe that wrist holder is worth the $10 alone. Reviewer on Ali says it requires long (protected) 26650.

They must have confused 700lm with 700m. One of the images in that Amazon listing shows 300m range.

But the pic says 7500 cd, which is like 173 meters. 7.5 kcd sounds too low for that light anyway. 250-300 meters sounds about right.

The specs are a mess - who knows... But 700 meters as the description says is wayyy too high.

Dang I have one Thrunite protected but others are flat tops.

Also it appears to start with strobe but for $10 I couldn’t resist.

“Currently unavailable”… whew!

Probably would’ve bought a bunch even though I really don’t need any more lights.

After I did some research, decided against it. They probably had only bout 3-5 of them, I'm guessing.

Thanks for sharing your research. It’s part of what makes this community so valuable.

Just received the TrustFire DF008.

Feels much better built than any $20 Harbor Freight light. I like it a lot more than a couple of Coast brand lights I bought from Home Depot for around $30 - $35.

The magnetic ring that you turn to go through the mode/levels has a good quality feel to it. With a battery in it, the feel of the DF008 is solid and comfortable. It’s a quality made product.

I left it on for ten minutes on the high level in my office, and it didn’t even begin to get warm. It starts off on strobe, but you can quickly and easily spin right past it to get to the light levels. Though I don’t think strobe is necessary on a 700lm torch, much less a dive light. I think I only see two light levels, to my eyes anyways.

Luckily one of my Wowtac 26650 batteries is long enough to use in the TrustFire, I tried a Shockli, and a Sofirn 26650 5500mAh batteries but they did not work in the TrustFire. Those batteries were to short and rattled around in the torch.

So, for $10 the TrustFire is really good. Too bad it didn’t come with the wrist holder seen in pictures, but that can be ordered for another $10.

Ahh, sounds good! But a shame it didn't come with the wrist holder. Think they said it came with a holster and assumed they meant the wrist thing. I got a couple dive lights. They typically use the mag ring because they are leak proof and tend to be thicker. Some come with a very thick lens that will lose some output.

Guess that one reviewer was correct about the battery lengths.

Ok, my bad. My wife had taken the wrist holder out of the box and left it on the kitchen table when she placed the opened box with the torch on my desk. It does come with a wrist holder. Apologies for that.

Yes I got the wrist holder too.

Also, there is another “off” between strobe and the other “ons” - so you don’t have to cycle through strobe every time. It goes Main Off - Strobe - Off - High - Low.

It is solid. Beam not the greatest. A bit of fried egg seems to me.

Definitely a good deal for a diver or for someone needing a solid flashlight.

For me with plenty of lights already - a $10 impulse buy that I don’t have to feel too guilty about.
