Im impressed with the battery they shipped, i got over 5500mah when i charged the battery from around 3V… not bad.
What battery is it?
its a wrapped green cell, not much info but
About 26650 Battery:
Name: HLY 26650 Power Battery
Capacity: 5000mAh
Material: 3C
wonder which OEM …
I think they are cheap generic cells. You’d need to measure the amps it pulls in your mini to get an idea how powerful it actually is. I believe that’s the cell that came with my Cometa. High capacity, but weak. I’m thinking of a different cell.

I dug up the green cell that came with my Cometa that I bought at Banggood. It’s the same exact color, but Vapcell Vappower brand 5200mah. That’s the weak one.
I really dont know much about the green HLY cell other than they are inexpensive. Hopefully someone can do some amp draw tests and see how it compares to known, tested cells.

The 26650 that comes with Cometa is Vappower (not Vapcell… lest they get angry…), I also have it, and appears to be a weaker cell (higher IR).
The HLY seems to compare similarly to the Liitokala Lii-50A (black) — at lower current drain (ie. when doing a discharge test @ 1A discharge current of a fully-charged Lii-50A alongside a fully-charged HLY 26650, they seem to track close to each other, at least at 1A).
Tried using the HLY and Lii-50A on MF01-Mini, seems to yield almost similar Turbo brightness (ceiling bounce, and with lux meter to compare).
The HLY 26650 comes in 2 types: beige and light green. I “guess” the beige one has a slightly newer date code than the ‘light green’ HLY (I’m just guessing the date code markings). I measure AC IR (using YR1030 resistance tester) of ~17mOhms for the HLY 26650. (for Lii-50A, I get different AC IR for different batch, but most are around 17-18mOhms AC IR when measured using the YR1030).
*re “date code” of HLY, only my “guess”, the last 2 digits of the 1st group of 8 alphanumeric characters is probably the year of manufacture (the ‘light green’ has “18” for 2018 and the ‘beige’ HLY has ‘19’ which probably means 2019 year of manufacture.

I ordered a Ft03 so I could have a thrower. But, Bangood can’t find my order. So, is the mini a thrower like the Ft03? The problem I have is I got a bonus from work so I have to spend it or I have to give it back. Hmmmm. I’m just joking.

The MF01 mini is not a thrower due to limits of the TIR design. It is rated for about 370 meters, while FT03 SST-40 is rated over 800 meters.
The mini has a larger diameter body to use a 26650 cell. The E07 is sized to use a 21700 cell.

New Toys!
Made sure everything works (including aux LED). All is well for now.
Have 2 copper plates (Arrived before flashlights) that I will insert along with MX4 thermal paste and possible thermal pad in other areas.
Seems like button click speed varies between the 2 for activating various functionality. The sleeves work great as I can use 26650, 18650. Have not tried 21700 yet.
The aluminum with battery weighs less than the copper without battery. The copper is one hefty weight flashlight!

Has anyone successfully been able to change the thermal configuration for the step down? I been reading and watching videos on how to do this. But no matter what I do, nuthin has changed….light steps down from turbo after 10 seconds each and every single time. Any help is appreciated. Thanks all

Ha there! I've been changing them:
be sure the light settles to approx. room temperature
go to the temperature readout mode (called TempCheck on the diagrams)
click quickly 4 times to get into thermal configuration mode
the light should flicker, like strobe mode - you only got a few secs to start, but while it's strobing, click the # of times you want to set the temperature to. For example, click 20 times to set 20C. These clicks don't have to be quick - it's just the total # of clicks that count.
Once you stop clicking, it will timeout in a few seconds, then the strobe will start again. Now you want to set the max temp for thermal regulation. If you want to max it out, click 40 times (sets 70C as the max temp). Again, it will timeout after you stop clicking, and don't worry if you click more than 40 times - it will still act as if you clicked 40 times to set the max temp to 70C.
You can confirm the current temperature right away, because as soon as the 2nd strobe finishes, the light returns to blinking the current temperature. If you set 20C, it should now blink out 20 or 21 or so. Unfortunately you can't confirm the max temperature setting.
Now if this 70C doesn't work for you, you can do some cheat'n -- . Repeat the steps above, but instead of setting 20C as the current temperature, click only 5 times for 5C. This will effectively raise your max limit to 85C, though your current temperature will be calibrated 15C low. So the good thing about this is the light will start to temp regulate at what it thinks is 70C but is really 85C.
There are kinda question.
In reviews, current in maximum ramp level is around 5A. And in maximum ramp level there are trouble with 7135 overheating.
But regulated current is 2.4A. This is 6th level of ramping, not 7th! So, what s the connection between 7135 overheating and 7th level step downs, if on 7th level NO 7135 used, but something PWM from FET.

??
You are making a wrong assumption here. 7th level uses 7135 chips at 100% duty cycle. Only at max Turbo output do the 7135 chips turn off.

I’ve never ordered from them before, but it seems like https://www.flashlightlens.com/ is a popular option (especially the UCLp) with lots of sizes
Thanks for the suggestion. Ordered one from them, the prices are good as well.

Your colors look strange.
It is included in a lot of Banggood lights.
I dont know if anyone has officially tested it.

Might be new wrap.
I doubt they switch to a different cell based on where it’s being shipped to.
These are add-on batteries that Banggood are using on a lot of lights. I’m guessing they bought them based on a low price.

How does this compare to the Fireflies E07?
The New Guy
a little bigger and more bulky.. if u want something smaller get the e07.. both heats up quite fast on turbo though.

Fireflies doesn’t have USB charging, Astrolux Mini does. But thermal dissipation not well implemented, to say the least.

From what I read this makes a great improvement
coming next weak
