New Sofirn SP33 V3 !!

Now it works

Is there likely to be customs issues shipping batteries to Canada?

Also, it would be good to be able to see shipping costs and details, and enter codes, without having to create an account on the site.

It was a direct link

Yeah, noticed and edited. Either I’m blind or it was added later. It was even included in my quote.

Yes,there are some custom issues shipping to Canada. We are choosing another logistic company to deal with the battery packages.
Without an account, you won’t have a order number. tt won’t be easy for us to confirm your order if something goes wrong. I appreciate your understanding.

I had enquired thru email about Canada Customs and you have not responded.
Then you gave me broken tracking numbers on two shipments:
1023038621090689
1023038620852455

How can I deduce the shipments will arrive?

It would be a nice feature but not possible for different products. Flashlights would be an entirely different shipping price than batteries shipped separately .

Due to the virus there is a lot of back log and some warehouses and shipping companies are not yet able to return to work. Patience and understanding is required at this time.

Their site has no provision as “guest” account. Many sites require a login for shipping quotes.

What I mean is it would be good to see shipping costs and discounts in the shopping cart before creating or logging into an account.

Is there reasonable reassurance that the other logistic company can fulfil delivery and avoid problems such as packages being turned away? There seems to be at least two concerns: 1) restrictions for lithium ion batteries on airlines, and 2) proof of classification for importing.

Given the uncertainties, I’ve held off from ordering for now. Though, it would be nice to have a 26650 battery for my SP33v3 which I ordered with a battery to avoid exactly these import/shipping issues, but I was sent one without the battery.

Sure, but I don’t see how calculating those different shipping prices is any different before or after logging into an account.

If Canada is bad about turning away batteries at the border, my advice would be to buy them locally. Surely there are battery stores in Canada. Then make sure the China imports are flashlights only. It may cost a bit more, but it’s probably worth it in the long run.

If it gives you a quote it doesn’t mean the shipping is correct for batteries to certain countries.

I don’t know if Shopify allows for this

Well, I’m not sure what the import situation is, but the ambiguity causes concern about hassles. I’m not aware of many local options. That’s part of the reason for stores like https://18650canada.com/ but there the shipping costs in Canada unfortunately become a deal-killer in many cases.

And yes, that’s why I ordered my Li-Ion flashlights with batteries. Sadly that’s not how my SP33 arrived.

But again, what part of specifying a country and correctly calculating shipping rates requires creating or logging into an account?

An account only takes a second, why is it even an issue?

If you want this feature then purchase on AliExpress

That’s besides the point, but there are plenty of reasons.

Examples:

From a consumer’s perspective, not proliferating their personal information on the internet unnecessarily, not increasing the chance of exposure through eventual breaches, etc.

From a business’s perspective, not reducing sales by having obstacles in the purchasing process (as this discussion illustrates), not being liable for unnecessary personal information (one reason some merchants deal only with third-party payment processors and avoid customer financial data), etc.

How much does shipping cost from Canada18650?

It’s typical here in New Zealand for an Urban address to be up to $8 nzd. If it’s something crazy then that’s understandable.

I find the majority of consumers have a cheap mindset and end up screwing over local stores. Support stores in your country, you get good local support and warranties.

I’m an authorized dealer for Sofirn but selling in New Zealand is a struggle because of China’s direct access to low prices, it’s incredibly frustrating at times.

I absolutely hate when someone wastes my time inquiring about a flashlight and hear they’ve purchased off AliExpress because it’s a couple $ cheaper.

I had a look and Shopify doesn’t support the estimated shipping from your cart. Sofirn would need to get someone that’s into coding to implement it

I don’t know, but I think the owner posted on BLF or somewhere else about issues making shipping quotes available without an account on the platform they are using (Shopify, I think).

$8 seems reasonable, though here I wouldn’t be surprised by something closer to $20. In either case it doesn’t make much sense for small orders.

Just a couple $ or a fairly significant percentage? Either way, I sympathize. It’s difficult to compete with an option that has cheap or free shipping, doesn’t charge taxes, etc.

Where are you ordered it?

The shipping fee is $1.99 for orders below $19, FREE shipping on orders over $19. The standard is for worldwide. There is no need to do calculation.
As for batteries alone shipping, we can handle for most countries. But the shipping speed can not be quicker due to the budget price. Usually the shipping time is 2-3 weeks, some orders can be delayed by customs or returned by the post office which is beyond our control. But the more orders we deal with, the better we can choose the best logistic service. Thank you for understanding.
