New Sofirn SP33 V3 !!

If it gives you a quote it doesn’t mean the shipping is correct for batteries to certain countries.

I don’t know if Shopify allows for this

Well, I’m not sure what the import situation is, but the ambiguity causes concern about hassles. I’m not aware of many local options. That’s part of the reason for stores like https://18650canada.com/ but there the shipping costs in Canada unfortunately become a deal-killer in many cases.

And yes, that’s why I ordered my Li-Ion flashlights with batteries. Sadly that’s not how my SP33 arrived.

But again, what part of specifying a country and correctly calculating shipping rates requires creating or logging into an account?

An account only takes a second, why is it even an issue?

If you want this feature then purchase on AliExpress

That’s besides the point, but there are plenty of reasons.

Examples:

From a consumer’s perspective, not proliferating their personal information on the internet unnecessarily, not increasing the chance of exposure through eventual breaches, etc.

From a business’s perspective, not reducing sales by having obstacles in the purchasing process (as this discussion illustrates), not being liable for unnecessary personal information (one reason some merchants deal only with third-party payment processors and avoid customer financial data), etc.

How much does shipping cost from Canada18650?

It’s typical here in New Zealand for an Urban address to be up to $8 nzd. If it’s something crazy then that’s understandable.

I find the majority of consumers have a cheap mindset and end up screwing over local stores. Support stores in your country, you get good local support and warranties.

I’m an authorized dealer for Sofirn but selling in New Zealand is a struggle because of China’s direct access to low prices, it’s incredibly frustrating at times.

I absolutely hate when someone wastes my time inquiring about a flashlight and hear they’ve purchased off AliExpress because it’s a couple $ cheaper.

I had a look and Shopify doesn’t support the estimated shipping from your cart. Sofirn would need to get someone that’s into coding to implement it

I don’t know, but I think the owner posted on BLF or somewhere else about issues making shipping quotes available without an account on the platform they are using (Shopify, I think).

$8 seems reasonable, though here I wouldn’t be surprised by something closer to $20. In either case it doesn’t make much sense for small orders.

Just a couple $ or a fairly significant percentage? Either way, I sympathize. It’s difficult to compete with an option that has cheap or free shipping, doesn’t charge taxes, etc.

Where are you ordered it?

The shipping fee is $1.99 for orders below $19, FREE shipping on orders over $19. The standard is for worldwide. There is no need to do calculation.
As for batteries alone shipping, we can handle for most countries. But the shipping speed can not be quicker due to the budget price. Usually the shipping time is 2-3 weeks, some orders can be delayed by customs or returned by the post office which is beyond our control. But the more orders we deal with, the better we can choose the best logistic service. Thank you for understanding.

The shipping fee is $1.99 for orders below $19. FREE shipping are available for orders over $19.

Thanks. Perhaps this information could be placed on the website. Currently the product page says: “Shipping calculated at checkout.”

Usually returns are due to not following regulations, so that case is within our control. This is why I asked if measures are taken to prevent it.

Though I suppose it doesn’t matter any more since the batteries are sold out.

Shipping calculated at checkout is all that’s available when you ship to different countries and have more than a single rate.

It’s a standard label used by Shopify, I don’t think it can be changed unless they have only one rate.

Shopify is limited. WordPress there’s complete freedom but is a big learning curve to build a website

Back then my prices were between $4-8 more than AliExpress. Recently increased pricing as I wasn’t making enough.

It’s certainly a hard brand to sell and make much since Sofirn are already such good value

Found these 90º USB Type C magnetic charging cables with an oblong end and matching plug that fits the recess of the Sofirn SP33. (Also support data and are available with Lightning and Micro USB plugs as well, for those interested.)

Too bad it doesn’t rotate like the magnetic cables with round ends do (such as the one plugged into the Kaidomain PB above) but none of those fit the recess in the SP33. Oh and sorry, they’re currently sold out of the “Silver” cords shown here (I snatched up their last three) but there are still units left in colors. Don’t think there are any other vendors with similarly shaped plugs, searched and searched.

Also, figured out problem with the SP33 switch. You have to click it on or off in a split second or it will either not turn on or enter ramping mode. This is especially difficult when wearing gloves because the button is so shallow. So ordered these Clear Rubber Feet Adhesive Bumper Pads which are stated to measure 8.5mm in diameter, same as power button on SP33. From Customer Images appear to be 3M Electronics’ which really can’t be beat. Haven’t shipped yet but once they arrive here will test out and report back right away as to their efficacy.

They’d only be of use to those who are happy to keep the usb cover open. I personally don’t take the risk

tRe switch: I put a drop of UV glue on the switch to form a small bump, let is spread until it almost reached the rim of the switch, hardened it with UV & the switch is much improved.

Yes I saw where you posted that, it’s what gave me the idea for the transparent bumper pads. Seemed potentially less messy and more economical as come 200 pieces for only ~$7; will apply some to all my flashlights’ tail caps as well so they don’t scratch the table top when stood up on it. Rest will offer here for the price of postage to anyone else in need, if I find them a dependable fix for the Sofirn’s little power button problem. Supposed to arrive this Tuesday so will post back then.

The 8.5 diameter 2.5 height clear silicone bumpers came in two styles, one a hemispherical section, the other a shorter disk with a smaller hemispherical center bump. Both respond quite well to the touch; former wins for svelte but found the latter slightly more effective in both magnifying and concentrating the measly little LED indicators under the power button when viewed from the side. Not a big deal.

Remains to be seen how long they adhere. Any problem and will try applying vulcanizing fluid (aka bicycle patch rubber cement) to the power buttons so as to bond the bumpers more permanently.

If there’s any interest I’d be willing to mail strips of these to anyone here in continental USA for just $1, which simply covers cost + postage.

Does it work with 2x16340?
