New Sofirn SP33 V3 !!

Thanks. Perhaps this information could be placed on the website. Currently the product page says: “Shipping calculated at checkout.”

Usually returns are due to not following regulations, so that case is within our control. This is why I asked if measures are taken to prevent it.

Though I suppose it doesn’t matter any more since the batteries are sold out.

Shipping calculated at checkout is all that’s available when you ship to different countries and have more than a single rate.

It’s a standard label used by Shopify, I don’t think it can be changed unless they have only one rate.

Shopify is limited. WordPress there’s complete freedom but is a big learning curve to build a website

Back then my prices were between $4-8 more than AliExpress. Recently increased pricing as I wasn’t making enough.

It’s certainly a hard brand to sell and make much since Sofirn are already such good value

Found these 90º USB Type C magnetic charging cables with an oblong end and matching plug that fits the recess of the Sofirn SP33. (Also support data and are available with Lightning and Micro USB plugs as well, for those interested.)

Too bad it doesn’t rotate like the magnetic cables with round ends do (such as the one plugged into the Kaidomain PB above) but none of those fit the recess in the SP33. Oh and sorry, they’re currently sold out of the “Silver” cords shown here (I snatched up their last three) but there are still units left in colors. Don’t think there are any other vendors with similarly shaped plugs, searched and searched.

Also, figured out problem with the SP33 switch. You have to click it on or off in a split second or it will either not turn on or enter ramping mode. This is especially difficult when wearing gloves because the button is so shallow. So ordered these Clear Rubber Feet Adhesive Bumper Pads which are stated to measure 8.5mm in diameter, same as power button on SP33. From Customer Images appear to be 3M Electronics’ which really can’t be beat. Haven’t shipped yet but once they arrive here will test out and report back right away as to their efficacy.

They’d only be of use to those who are happy to keep the usb cover open. I personally don’t take the risk

tRe switch: I put a drop of UV glue on the switch to form a small bump, let is spread until it almost reached the rim of the switch, hardened it with UV & the switch is much improved.

Yes I saw where you posted that, it’s what gave me the idea for the transparent bumper pads. Seemed potentially less messy and more economical as come 200 pieces for only ~$7; will apply some to all my flashlights’ tail caps as well so they don’t scratch the table top when stood up on it. Rest will offer here for the price of postage to anyone else in need, if I find them a dependable fix for the Sofirn’s little power button problem. Supposed to arrive this Tuesday so will post back then.

“Good artists borrow, great artists steal.”

The 8.5 diameter 2.5 height clear silicone bumpers came in two styles, one a hemispherical section, the other a shorter disk with a smaller hemispherical center bump. Both respond quite well to the touch; former wins for svelte but found the latter slightly more effective in both magnifying and concentrating the measly little LED indicators under the power button when viewed from the side. Not a big deal.

Remains to be seen how long they adhere. Any problem and will try applying vulcanizing fluid (aka bicycle patch rubber cement) to the power buttons so as to bond the bumpers more permanently.

If there’s any interest I’d be willing to mail strips of these to anyone here in continental USA for just $1, which simply covers cost + postage.

Does it work with 2x16340?

Neither light works with 6v input.

In regards to Sofirn shipping batteries to Canada, the tracking numbers finally panned out. Shipping label created on next day (?); today being the 5th of March, label created on 6th by supplier (China is +12 UTC). So that explains the unusual behavior of their numbers, domestic tracking (just 16 digits).
After some Googling I deduced they are air shipping to US, ground to their Amazon warehouse in Canada and further processed thru Canada Post.
FastTech did the same as well as BG some time ago. Some wizardry.

AliExpress now lists 5000K as an option, although it is greyed out and not (yet?) available. Does anyone know whether there indeed will be a 5000K version anytime soon?

For shipping to the U.S., I was given a USPS tracking number on February 28th, a day or two after ordering. That number STILL does not register in the USPS system. Three contacts to Sofirn and no response. I did not bother playing the waiting game and filed a Paypal dispute. If they would have gotten back to me and tried to explain what was going on, I’d have been more patient. But simply ignoring my emails (while posting coupons for the batteries still on sale here) is just too poor of a business practice to me. I love their lights, but I cannot order from them anymore, either on their website or on Aliexpress.

@ longuylander;

They (Sofirn) seem to outsource the shipping, a broker of sorts. They sometimes ship direct which has a working tracker (as ChinaPost) and sometimes ship to their warehouse/remote location (where the tracking doesn’t show up). Then is re-shipped with new label, and then the tracking may work, to a domestic address. Their front end reps at the website have very little knowledge or hide that information. It’s very devious and not very transparent.

My 2 orders (from Jan. 13th) which never showed anything till the 5th of March (“logistics order created”) and now (March 10th) was processed at a way (aka customs) station in Canada, one which is on it’s way with Canada Post and can be tracked.

I’m not praising their shipping methods, as batteries are in the orders, they found a work around to ship Canada. This should not be so with US as there is air freight from China to USA. Perhaps Sofirn is under the customs radar for not divulging LiIon cells in the manifestos?

I just ran into some of their shenanigans with the new ‘re-designed’ website*. It really is mismanaged and they don’t seem to have a clear working strategy to capture a credible store. It’s a pity as some of their lights were top notch and very affordable, plus could be ordered with different LED variants and included batteries.

*Imagine re-designing a new web store and not testing out prior to launch!
On the forums they ask for patience till things get sorted out and then offer some discounts / better deals only to have the shipping refused to US / Canada / Germany (and maybe many other?). Losing people’s account and re-submitting as a new user would indicate a virus affected their database and everything is either compromised or non-retrievable. They would lose face (respectability) if exposed or worst, they may have a rogue employee that screwed things up.

They’ve got problems…

Update: You now can actually choose the 5000K version (although currently only 2 left):

And then there were none.

Thanks for the heads up, smvs!

How about making this light available on Amazon? Then shipping problems, and especially the wait, go away and problem solved.

It is on sale now till 1 april 2020. Lamp + battery for 28.07 euro. https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/4000283536927.html?spm=a2g0z.12010612.8148356.3.454727b9rvQwFf
