[Rumor] new 40700 cell size

.

mag will not fit 40mm cell, D tube id is a bit less than 35mm,. boring out is also not an option, due to o ring seats,

Unless we are all moving to 4D Maglites and BLF GT as EDC, this will not survive in our EDC life

I did. :innocent:

our edc’s are safe, 18650\350 are still around

Great, another reason to buy more lights. :person_facepalming:

40700 cell has 3.6x the volume of a 21700 so could have approximately 3.6x4.8Ah=17.3Ah.

If they exist, these cells will not be going to the consumer market. It’s possible, but not guaranteed that other manufacturers will copy the form factor.
So don’t worry for now

An SP36 with a 40700?! YES PLEASE!!

Which is more than 4*18650 and close to 4*21700.

If this cells shows up, the current pop can lights will quickly become obsolete.

And now we wait until Elon Musk googles to discover this thread, and he’ll be like hey 40700… why not? And this is how we get what we want!

Wow I wish this is true. Im imagining the idea of someone manufacturing a light with four of these in series. You can run 10k+ lumens for practically unlimited runtime!

Even the idea of a ROT66, D18, BLF LT1 with USB-C charge and powerbank would be real sweet

My thoughts exactly! :+1:

Imagine unscrewing your flashlight and taking an 40700 out of it.
Most of your friends would think you're playing a joke on them :P

Think in the price of those 40700…

50$ each???

then find a cheap charger that can charge 2 or 4 of those simultaniously with like 15A each

Think in the explosion and fire that could occur if something goes wrong with just one of them XD

there are 32650 cells out there, very few thou, their capacity rated at 8ah max, but they are not that popular , and those do fit in D size lights

For my first gen. ROT66 with battery carrier this could be an almost direct fit

the question is the voltage sag of such a battery, it could literally blast any DD LEDs with lower forward voltage like SST20, Nichia 219C, XPG3

8 x 40mm should be good for Imalent MS36-90.2

Time to start working out my masseter (even more than I already do) for the next big things in mouth hold lights.
