Low Price for a Lumintop Tool 2.0 Ti?

If it applies to the law, then it applies to common sense as well. And if it’s only a couple of dollars profit, then refunding the people their full amount does not seriously hurt them either. The extra work and stress was caused by them. The other party involved in the mistake should not be on the hook for any damages, no matter how small. Empathy has no place in business.

This made me laugh

BTW, before the Tool AA Ti went missing on the AliExpress LT store, it was above 50€ (an increase of more than 10€ since about 2 months).
Now it isn’t listed anymore.

I didn’t jump on this FT deal. I still think that for my use with a 15mm Lexel driver with Bistro HD OTSM it would get hot very fast on the highest modes. It is a very gorgeous light and I may rethink my opinion though :stuck_out_tongue:

Would be nice to have a “heat” test comparing a regular Tool AA V2.0 and a Tool AA Ti, under the same circumstances (same type of driver, led and battery, and environment).

I’m aware of the Ti problems, I fried three 219C emitters in a Reylight Ti because they were on direct drive and it is impossible to feel on the outside how hot it gets in there. What helps a bit is that the Tool has a thinner build so at least you can feel the heat a bit faster, but still modern low voltage emitters are not really compatible with direct drivers in Ti lights. What will help a bit is thinner longer led wires than stock to limit the current a bit.

Lumintop is releasing the updated Tool Ti with a copper head next month

That will make it too heavy for me to EDC. It will be more lightweight than the SS Astrolux S41 with copper head that was way heavier than I would ever consider carrying every day, but still…

It depends, if they are assembling the whole head with copper, or just the lower part. (The Ti head consists of 2 parts, and they are quite small and thin, that’s one of the major parts where the heat problem comes from)
They did not give details about that

Same here. I like FT best over GB, BG, KD, and AX, simply because I never had any major problems with them, they actually send a pic of the package when it ships (who else does that??), and they’re generally above-board way way way more than the others.

That said, it’s absolutely possible that they wanted to dump stock quickly (disputes with LT, etc.), it could’ve been mislabeled Al and not Ti, it could’ve been discontinued and not moving fast enough to clear inventory, any number of reasons (CPFI Cometa, anyone?). I don’t know if that would be the case, or if it really were a pricing error.

It’s the principle. I don’t like the possibility of being nicked by PP for “fees” for a refund. Dunno, there might be a difference in “sending” (fees) vs “refunding” (no fees) and I might be concerned over nothing, but still.

Like I said, it’s analogous to being mailed a refund check with postage due. It’s just not right to take the hit for someone else’s mistake.

Hey, if they’re willing to offer 4bux if you buy the light, I can cancel my entire order for 4bux credit, and reorder the 311 I had with the original order and apply the 4bux to that, even if PP nicks me for 3-4bux. It’d just about even out.

Speculation about exchange rate fees are unfounded.

Paypal gave me a full refund:

We reviewed the information regarding your case(s) and have decided in your favor.

We credited the full disputed transaction amount to your PayPal…

My refund was in full to the penny as well.

Some of you guys are just a little too strung out on the law.
If you really fear foreign transaction conversion fees, then stop dealing in foreign transactions. Simple.
Life isn’t always fair.

Here is my own personal amount at which I get my dander up.
The price of a McDonalds Happy Meal.
If the loss is less than the meal, then I am Happy and go on with my life.
Water off a ducks back.
Got enough bigger shit complicating my health and well being to worry about an amount that is less than tip money.

YMMV
Just keep this in mind;
A Good day is one where you are still on the right side of the dirt:)

Be safe, wash your hands and let’s get through this current mess.

Peace out,
Keith

Did you get an email from FT saying they had refunded the money? I have not received an email and nothing on PP yet.

FT made the full refund a few hours after I answered the email asking for cancellation and refund.
Simultaneously I received the email from PP confirming it.

I preemptively canceled the order, too, but no word yet.

I’m still deeply, deeply, saddened beyond belief at not getting the lights, though.

No refund for me yet , I’m glad they Sussed that we sussed their dirty tricks on us & are offering refunds , because I’ve since found out the tool aa has a lighted tail switch , yuk no tacky bling for me thank you ,giz a refund :+1:

Got a “full” refund. Sadly all prices on FT are in USD. And in NL we use € on a daily base.
So PP held on to the currency exchange fees, in both directions. It won’t break the bank, but it doen’s make me any happier.

Nevertheless, it could have been a fantastic deal.
So thanks for the heads up (no not being cynical, this time). Keep them coming :+1:

It was well worth the gamble.

I remember a similar pricing mistake on an Utrafire M5 a couple of years ago that was I believe 18 dollar but advertised for 1.23 dollar. I believe the (reasonable IMO) solution was that everyone who ordered a bunch could have one for the low price, the rest full price or cancelled. I still have mine somewhere, it is a nice AAA twisty.

No refund as of 3/16/20 9:00 PM EST.
Site said 1-2 days after cancelling on 3/11/20.
Also, sent back email to cancel and refund even earlier on 3/11/20.
Just opened PayPal dispute.

I am glad some of you got immediate refunds and have good experience with this vendor.
I am now 0 for 2 with FASTTECH. First one was a REALLY bad experience and I should not have jumped on this “to good to be true” deal, but thought they might be dumping old stock before revised design was released.
Shame on me…but NEVER again.
:rage:

After multiple emails asking if it shipped with no response I emailed one last time to just refund my and cancel the order. Of course no response from Fasttech so I filed a dispute with Paypal, before I even recieved the email from Paypal I recieved an email from Fasttech saying the order was canceled and I had a refund at that point. I almost think they never had any intent to ship the light or refund me. They were just waiting for me to file a dispute before they issued a refund.

I’ve witnessed a mutitude of similar ads of US origin which were declared an error and never processed beyond refund.

No refund yet for me either.

I just received a refund.
The status was waiting to be shipped, i was hoping that they would let it thru, but they didn’t
