Why Cu?

They all look completely chintzy and tacky to me. Kind of like an extension of the ‘tacticool’ or ‘mall ninja’ aesthetic - just a bit more expensive and heavier. I don’t get the appeal at all, but hey, it’s your disposable income. Do with it what you want.

nuff said!
don’t know iffn it would have turned out that way if left alone.
I instead massaged and rubbed it daily or more often with my grubby hands, unwashed before the current scare, possibly 1000 times.

BTW, any of you know what “Cu” means in Portuguese? :stuck_out_tongue:

Seeing the question “Why Cu?” is somehow funny

I looked up what Cu means in Portuguese...

Now I know why my Portuguese girlfriend always says, "Why Cu?"

Yeah, but what a show!!

At first i did not get it too. More expensive, very heavy, reported as heating much faster, prone to oxidation, odd smell, no tail cap lock…

Then i saw the Kronos BLF X5/X6 special edition box:

Since then i bought quite a few ones, but mainly for show. Full Cu body or just the head. I only really use the AAA ones.

This describes how I feel about it as well. The sort of “faux-vintage” look that so much EDC gear has been going for lately, with the brass, copper, distressed leather, etc.

This is gorgeous. A custom power bank housing with built-in quad emitter flashlight. Love it. Did you make just one or have you made a few? Any build topic on it? :sunglasses:

I made a little set for my 2017 Old Lumens contest entry. Just rechargeable, no powerbank functions but it has a UV array too as well as the quad & red emitters.

Beautiful!

so copper works great for all these flashlights that get handed back and forth all day to and from ill strangers…
just saying
why is that so important?

i mean it also is killed by cardboard but i wouldn;t want a flashlight from cardboard

wle

Shh, you are letting the next FW3 variant out of the bag…

It almost gets to full turbo before “Poof” - conflagration. (Yes even the Nichia 50% version)

FW3cb-cv10-poof

The “stink” from copper is the bacteria dying. Your skin is absolutely COVERED in bacteria. Hell, 35% of your body mass is bacteria- i.e. not you.

The smell is sweat and oils interacting with the metal, not dying micro-organisms. Which are only about 2% of an average person’s body mass… 35% would mean the bacteria in your body weigh twice as much as your skeleton lol

35% would mean the bacteria in your body weigh twice as much as your skeleton lol

==it is true though

it is not all even ‘human’

wle

I tell myself the same thing, because it makes me feel better,
even though I know that is not actually true:

https://www.nature.com/news/2006/061023/full/061023-7.html

i also blame bacteria when my armpits stink
and in that case it IS actually true

That suggests a new idea, I have not tried
will rubbing my CuMaratac on my armpits kill the smell?

stay tuned for the results of the Clinical Trials… lol

meanwhile, you can try this at home
rub your Copper Tool on one armpit, then compare the smell to the untreated side…

Dont let us know what you find out :confounded: lol
that will spoil it for those who have not tried

I don’t think the effect is quite that fast. You may get better results if you duct-tape a CuMaratac in each armpit and leave it there for an hour

Or maybe apply the deodorant to the copper light before using the light.
