Unprotected Samsung 35E HDC safe to use in Olight X7?

Okay, so i bought some batteries from ebay a week ago that i though were protected, as i’ve red that Samsungs 35E HDC batteries are. Turns out these are not.
It’s my fault though, the seller wrote “NO PCB” in the description, but i did not know what that meant, until today ( I was researching a little about batteries ). I haven’t gotten the cells yet, but is it safe to use these in the X7? From what i understand the X7 vil automatically cut off power when the voltage is critical low?

It’s my first big high end flashlight ( received Fenix PD36r and TK25UV a few days ago) other than that i’ve just owned a cheap Trustfire 3r-3t6 for six or seven years. All of a sudden i get bitten by the flashlight bug and order six flashlights in a week!? Haven’t slept because of the excitement and all the research :smiley:

Should work ok, but make sure u dont drain them too much below 2,9V.

Ok, is it too much discharging and charging that is dangerous with unprotected cells?

It’s supposed to have low-voltage protection according to a review I read so you should be fine.

The protection circuitry is supposed to prevent the battery from being discharged too low. If the flashlight itself has LVP (low voltage protection) then you can use unprotected cell.

The danger doesn’t happen when you overly discharge a lithium-ion battery. Its when you take overly drained batteries and then try to recharge it back to normal voltage.
