Interest collect for a new Sofirn design: tube style18650, magnetic ring control, USB-C charging, 500 lm max (AKA grandma light)

In for 1. thanks

In for 3 please.

I’m in! One or two lights sure

In for 1 if it it is infinitely variable, starts at a moonlight level.

Infinitely variable magnetic ring and NW? Hell yeah I’m in for 2 please!

Djozz: thanks for this great initiative!

I am interested in 2 units.

I have no idea about the current status of the project. I know that Barry is working and he posts on BLF every now and then, but how the design plans of Sofirn have changed because of the crisis I have no idea. I guess I need to mail Barry.

In for 1!
My first light was a Sunwayman V11R - still one of my favorites but I’ve grown away from the cool white LED.
Like others have mentioned before, as long as it’s packed well with certain types of grease the ring won’t really loosen up too bad and can always be repacked.

Both my grandmothers have passed . Can I still get one ?

if you can still catch their spirit, yes sure

I am in for at least 2. Maybe 3. Thanks!

interested in 2 please

Maybe I should take one. Please add me to the list, djozz.

interested, hope can be more than 500 lumens output

Interested.

Sorry i haven’t followed the whole thread… and post #1 does not help much understanding where the project is now. Could you add updates to the first post?

There are no actual updates since the first post apart from that in January Sofirn asked for a draft of how the light should look like and so I made one for them. I decided not to post my draft because it will (of course, this is BLF  ) generate lots of discussion on something that Sofirn may not use after all. So the next update will be when Sofirn confirms that they are actually started working on the design, with hopefully first design drawings.

Can you provide me a link of where to find the ipx7 or ipx8 usb-c port? I’m trying to convince a flashlight manufacturer to use usb-c instead of proprietary magnetic charging.

This is the USB-C port part link that I sent Barry as an example of what can be used. But I am by no means an expert on such things, I hope that Sofirn can sort out what is usable and affordable.

In for 2, very worthwhile project!
