How Much Money Have You Spent Since Lockdown?

Less. Even after the boredom-driven impulse buys online.

My wife had me trace a source for a free 1oz tube of shampoo which she used in a hotel we stayed at some time ago?.
She swears it is the only thing that stops her dandruf (better even than the oiltar, biotin, medicated stuff)
I found the Canadian source after 2 days. The website is beyond unusable. I worked on it until finally it accepted my registration.
I made a purchase of more(4x12oz) than I wanted in order to avoid an excessive shipping charge.
A week later I tried to contact the company(website, email, phone#) no response at all. My account was not available to me on their website.
Anyway, I assumed they were not in business anymore. I searched other sources. I found a hotel supply place in MO which had? the item as 1.5oz in 200pcs on a crate. My wife is a bargain/hoarder and gave the go ahead in spite of the $32 shipping charge. They cancelled the order.
The current source is still in the chase at 1oz/200pcs $78.40 free ship to my emailand provided a shipping number.
The original Canadian company has today posted to my email saying that they have shipped my order.
Where the hell have you been?

Other than food necessities that would have been purchased anyhow?

A couple of hundred bucks of stuff like a qt. of non-flammable contact cement needed to complete a workshop project, jigsaw blades, safety glasses, other odds ‘n’ ends for workshop. All ordered online and delivered by UPS, FedEx or USPS.

The week before our state locked-down I bought 4 new tires for the Tacoma ($1200) and new shocks and struts, F&R ($1500 installed, aligned.) That was in prep for a camping trip I was supposed to be on right now.

I use Nizoral twice a week and DHS 2% zinc the other days. Only thing that ever really beat dandruff for me. Before that I had to shower every single day with a dandruff controlling shampoo to keep it in a “manageable” state and if I missed a single day it would rain corn flakes about two days later.

kind of got carried away buying guns and ammo…2 new handguns, built an AR pistol, and stocked up on ammo…est expense maybe $1500 or so

also stockpiled some food before all this started going mainstream and people started panicking

I still have a job, for now anyway.

In total I have saved several hundred dollars, due to…

- no commute, no gas, no train tickets or similar required, almost no mileage on my vehicles

- no dry cleaning, no eating out, no teas or coffees or snacks purchased outside

  • no going out, no clubs, bars, restaurants or anything

I haven’t purchased any goods online yet, but I am also a new member. Let’s see what happens next.

Groceries: I have bought more, but not significantly more. Maybe 30$ per week.

As much as I needed to spend.

$4,000.00 on a heater for the pool this month . $150 bucks on flashlights and batteries I don’t need. $385.00 for someone to come and patch a leak in the pool or the heater will useless.

I’m left out of work until August (when schools re-open) and no income expected until then, so we have to mind our pennies. Other than food and utilities, the only extra we’ve spent was $17 for a new electric can opener to replace a hand-crank opener that bent and no longer works well.

$1201 and I haven’t even gotten it yet. :person_facepalming:

Too much

No more and no less than I spent before it.

I do keep my job (teaching assistent in a school) so I guess my income will be ok for the moment. Still I have no idea how this crisis will pan out in the longterm. Will I need my money and better save up plenty, or will its value fade and should I spent it as I do normally. I have no knowledge of economics so for me time will tell.

I do spend less money than normally though, being at home most of the time with the family is not very expensive.

Just buy a can of flex-seal! Afterwards, you can make a boat out of the leftovers and some chicken-wire.

As i’m used to eat out noon and evening i’m saving quite a bit on that front. Less gas and expenses on other stuff too… And i didn’t go crazy with online shopping either. What’s wrong with me? lol :person_facepalming:

I’m out of a job so no money coming in.
Other than extra food (and TP!!!)

I put $550 into a small sine wave generator.
It will run 2 fridges or a hot plate. (If I run out of charcoal for the BBQ).
Let’s hope I never need it.
Keep Safe
All the Best,
Jeff

I’m not sure, but I know it was more than I had coming in.

Less than normal since my wife and I aren’t driving to work anymore. And our auto insurance will be lowering rates for a couple of months. We feel very fortunate to be able to work from home.
