What blade did you EDC today?

Yeah, it’s a mystery. However, I don’t think it’s fair to compare it to the cheap Pakistani stuff. Civivi is a gem in the world of budget knives, generally offering exceptional quality for the price. They do a decent job with their steels too. For instance, compare Civivi’s 9Cr18Mov to what we’ve seen from companies like Schrade or CRKT.

So how about their “Damascus”? I don’t know. I haven’t been willing to pay the premium for what seem like cosmetic upgrades. I haven’t heard much about the long-term edge retention or corrosion resistance. From what I understand, there should be two different steels involved. One of them is their rather decent 9Cr18Mov. The other one is a mystery. Is this correct?

I can’t post pictures yet but today I am carrying a Hinderer Half Track w/
Tri-Way Pivot. This is my newest Hinderer and it is seeing lots of pocket time.

Been carrying my Ochs Lynx from Drop for the past month. CF and Blue MokuTi clip and hardware. I think I need more MokuTi in my pocket. (Just wish it wasn’t so $$$.)

I was only giving a reason on the terminology of endearment of the different “damascus” monikers by mfg’s taken from the knife community, since it confused him. I was in no way comparing any metallurgy of any sort with that.

Not a die hard steel snob, I just like them, so I collect them. I occasionally carry them when in dress clothes, but not for hard work to test.
True, that it should be of 2 metals, a hardened core, and a softer, flexible outer shell, to support the brittleness, and add corrosion and wear resistance. It will come out eventually.

Wow, that’s gorgeous! “Wemascus” vs. Damascus sounds curious. I saw one BLF member attest to true Damascus steel being better than most. I’ve got a cheapie with wooden scales by some no-name brand… steel is nice, but I don’t know how good it is, because I don’t use it (just for show).

Damascus IS only for show. Performance will always be worst.

Civivi is a WE sub brand, and the Damascus is of fully unknown content, so it has been dubbed Wemascus. Yeah, it’s pretty, and will get minor use.

Guys, I know there are many knives fans among you. I’m totally green so just a humble request to recommend me a knife for my father (67yo).

In two months a father’s day will come so it’s the last call to get something from China. Due to virus the delivery time has significantly increased.

Long story short: I need a good reliable folding knife for around $25. Nothing fancy, just solid, reliable knife. The simpler the better. I want this gift to serve him for long. Neither my father nor myself are familiar with brands, so it doesn’t matter.

What would you recommend? Or maybe any good deals have been spotted around? Please share.

Thanks in advance and keep yourselves in good health.

Dunno if they’re still available, but that go,comma knife making the rounds here is hella nice.

The question I’d ask is, are there any legal restiction for carry in your area and does he like/know how to use a knife with one-hand opening?

If locking knives are not ok I’d recommend the Sanrenmu 9165

If one hand opening and a locking blade is ok I’d recommend the Sanrenmu 810 series or one of the 910 series

I really like my Kershaw folders. And you can find them on Amazon in that price range, which means less shipping uncertainty and shorter wait. Check out these Kershaws:
Volt II
Oso Sweet
Duck Commander

Currently overnight solo camping in the mountains (with cell service, lol), so here’s my EDC.

Thats a nice looking FB droppoint :+1:

Kershaw Mixtape for me:

Too bad i can not buy such knives where ever, cuz you see they are illegal here so getting nicked in customs would mean a 500 +USD fine and it you have any weapon’s permits for anything they would get invoked from this horrible breach of the Danish weapons law.

I will have to buy from a EU country where parcels dont undergo the same control, i have gotten a few from Germany for instance.

You cant have any form of 1 hand opening, and no locking blade either, and the blade have to be pretty short, sub 75 mm i think it is.

My country was sick way before Corona.

You can if you are the member of the Royal Court. Aren’t you?

I am always going fishing ( gear in the back of my car ) this way i can carry a fixed blade that would make crocodile Dundee approve
If they wonder why i carry it under the arm like a gun, well its just to not scare people and i fish wearing waders so on the hip dont work, i would prefer to be able to open carry, but that would be frowned upon with a Bowie that large.

Real Steel H6 Special Edition II 7781. My orange crush. LOL

I haven’t been able to set it down the past couple of days. The well placed, and well designed thumb studs make it a fun fidget tool.

I cleaned out the insides, and applied mineral oil to the pivot washers and it really improved the action, a lot. It’s also a slicing machine with the beautiful shaped blade that comes super sharp.

… QSP Carbon Hawk …

Here’s my office carry for the day.
