I've had 3 mounts ..

two fish

2$

universal bike mount

not bad/but not great ..... it fits a few lights pretty well ..like p-60 lights

and this horrible universal mount ....

...<<<-Pure garbage

I just got the twofish and they are not terribly impressive in the package and i thought oh no not more junk .... then i open them up and put them on just the light..immediately you know this is going to work very well .They are extraordinarily cheap ..it ain't broke ..don't fix it .. go get some :)

here's the same link again ..at 2$ it's a no brainer

But i'll ask ..

Who uses what for mounts and what do you like or dislike ??

I have about 8 different mounts. If I had to pick just one, it would be a TwoFish (or TwoFake) Lockblock. Only thing better in my experience is a TwoFish Cycloblock, which is a little more heavy duty. You just can't beat the versatility and ease of use. They fit anywhere, no matter the bar diameter and work on helmets too.

I have the 2 fish, the fenix af-02 and the second one you posted..they all work well but the fenix af-02 is a beast and just does not move..it'll take my 2 cell masterpiece whereas the other too tend to move..the 2 fish being the bounciest of them all..

TwoFish all the way

I have the Universal mount (2 on OP's list) used with a P-Rocket XM-L 530 from Shiningbeam.

Works OK with this light. Only issue is the tightening knob, for the light, is too small for my fingers, especially when its cold outside. I plan on replacing the knob with something more suitable.

Two Fish and the open clamp thingee all the way..

Two fish copy..

Open Clamp thingee..

Lately I have been reinforcing each of these with thin black rubber bands I got from Tmart. Simple insurance. You can see the rubber bands in the open clamp thingee..

I like the open clamp thingee for my thin 18650 dia. size lights, and for my 26650 dia. size lights, the two fish copy works nicely. As you can see, I go with double everything.. Wink

I guess I really need to try the 2 fish. I have been using the 2nd one shown for a couple years. I love the fact that some light require the tail cap be screwed on after it's in the mount so there is absolutely no way the light is going to fall out no matter how stupid you get on your bike.

The ones you have are good ones, E, just not as versatile as the TwoFish. If you are going to keep the light and mount on, and if you have smaller diameter bars, those work great and are very solid mounts. But they won't fit most newer road or mountain bikes, which have larger diameter bars. I have the wing style flat top bars on my roadie, and no way is that mount going to work. Same with the ones cehoward has - work great on older bars. My steel Lemond will accept both of these types and I'll use them on it.

By the way, I got 4 of the TwoFakes from DX and they work good, but not quite as good as the original. For some reason, the rubber on the DX ones is a little too slick, so you have to rough it up a bit with some sandpaper to make it stick better.

I also have 3 on the way from CNQG, which has them slightly cheaper than DX, and ship time is better: http://www.cnqualitygoods.com/goods.php?id=1111

I feel that the TwoFish takes up more of the road shock than a firm mount . This may be better for the flashlight .

Or not .

As long as you tape wrap your batteries to prevent battery rattle or movement and therefore mode switching , you shouldn't have a problem .

It works great , it's easy to adjust the snugness of the batteries and ...

It's Budget .

Welcome to BLF, picklebp!

You said tape up your batteries..??

I've always run some shiney advertisment paper in with my batteries ..usually it's madse out of some junk mail that has high sheen and a little bit or thickness and i cut a half round or just a slice and run it down next to the cell to take up extra space ...do you really tape up your batteries ?..masking tape ?

Thanks for all the comments guys I just was surprised how good a 2$ twofish was ..I'm not saying it is the best thing made but it seems like an easy one that everyone ought to have ...they are probably less than 2$ too if you search and search :P

E1320 I agree I liked the fact that once the light was tighted down on the second one ..there weren't no way the light was coming out unless you had an axe .

Between rides i know you like the open top ones as well My question was ...they swivel ??..Ok swivelling isn't a bad thing if it works ..are they that tight ?.

The reason for the thread was to say ...Wow two fish 2bux whodathunkit

thanks for the imput

Yes, the swivel ones are good. The ones that don't are too cheap.

Those 2 c8's look cool

I run the open clamp thingy exclusively for over a year now on my 2 bikes, they are great for 23.5-25.4 mm flashlights like the C8,P60 lights, Hugsby P31(with clip) and most of the time the Fenix E21 which has a 25.4 mm head that fits perfectly. I also own 2 two-fish that collect dust in my flashlight accessories box. I like the ultra-fast mount and demount speed on the open clamp thingies.

Thanks for the tip about the paper inside the tube.

I've been using the DX two fish version for a while, but dislike mounting and dismounting each time. I will get the clamp type next. If you get the 2-pack it's $0.50 cheaper: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/universal-adjustable-bicycle-mount-for-flashlights-23mm-diameter-2-pack-56320

Does anyone know of a cheap or DIY seatstay mount to mount a rear light like this: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/3-led-safety-bike-tail-light-2xaaa-2975?item=30

Ok between rides here's your shot ..are you suggesting the manafont ones that swivel over the DX ones that don't ?

Or am I missing something ?

i like the thought of easy removal since my lights are worth more than my bike .

My favorite makeshift bike mount is..two clamps rubberbanded together .,,best part is the ability to just open the clamp and pull the light .

i don't know vectrex ....I have to go with a member who has a picture and name that says I BIKE..

it looks like you're both liking the same mount .. one swivels the other doesn't

This morning, I had a little slippage from the two fish knock off. It was raining, and I had a big light in there too. On the other hand, the M10 right beside the big light, didn't budge.. When I state slippage, I mean the mount is tilting forward, as in rolling on the bar.

Recently I have received the second (by reading some E's posts giving positive feedback :) ), now I have to wait until I go out at night and try them.

My experience with the "TwoFish", is that is really versatile, but it shakes a lot, and more with heavier flashlights. Sometimes oncoming drivers flash long lights and I think it's because the shaking of my flashlights points to them while shaking.

They are my choice too for the 18650 lights. However, when we move up to the 26650 lights, the open thingee is straining. That is why I go with the two fish for the bigger dia lights.

See....and i thought this was gonna be an easy one .

I got my 2fish the other day and when I pulled back on the Velcro i realized it was really grabbing onto the light and there was no way it would spin in the mount ,,,the light does have extra groves but No knurling ...I was really impressed ....

maybe we could get this down to only 3 or 4 mounts to recommend

can we agree on the ones that are truly foul. ( ones to avoid ) ??
