Convoy xhp35 driver problem

Hi BLFers,

I got two of these drivers in together with a couple of xhp35 hi.

I installed one of them in a convoy s11.(forward clicky)

In the first mode I hear a whining noise which is pretty loud. After a couple of seconds it skips the first mode and goes to the second without doing anything. It makes a strange electronic sound for a very short time when it bums up to second mode.
Its mostly after 10sec but sometimes takes 20sec. It always does this.

I tried it with the lamp hot, cold, different battery, different switch(from second s11) but I cannot find the problem. If i shake the light nothing happens. It does not go from second to third mode automaticly. Both springs are bypassed and bypass is securly in place. I placed a small piece of that blue thermal silicone one the square thats on the driver to give it beter heat transfer to the body of the light.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

I found that this driver is very sensitive to less than perfect electrical connections, resulting in coming alive by itself: try cleaning the battery tube ends and corresponding contact surfaces with a cloth and screw everything together well. That solved some problems for me at least.

I get whining noise at the highest mode btw, that did not go away.

Do you also have the whining sound om first mode? Strange that it only skips the first mode.

No, only on the highest mode

cleaned everything but still skips the first mode after 10/20 sec.

I got zero sound at highest mode.

Pity, your problem is different then :frowning:

“After a couple of seconds it skips the first mode and goes to the second without doing anything.”

Exactly the same thing happens to me! I thought that it was my lack of skills. Anyway, I hope that the problem can be solved somehow…

Also in s11? Maybe there is a problem in the driver somehere…
