*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Hi all, I’ve not been in for a while so bear with me. Is the GB closed now? I’ve searched back several pages, and done a lot of google search on the lantern. Best price I can see here in the U.K. is ridiculous £79, which is $99 usd!

Does anyone have any pointers to a better deal for a U.K. member?

And while I’m on, all the best wishes to everyone in these times. :+1:

Post 11,000!

(at the moment)

Many thanks to you. I had been on the Sofirn site and tried to add to cart and the system didn’t allow me to change the shipping country to UK. Your link worked a charm, and I have a kit on order. Not that I’m short of 18650s, but the price was so good I thought I might as well.

Can one use protected samsung 35e batts in the blf lt1 lantern?

I meant to order the unprotected version while I am waiting for the lantern

You sure can, that’s an extra 2000mAh.

according to https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/54784 the Q8 (which the LT1 is based off) can use protected cells.

i bought the same batteries. just waiting on my LT1. should be here this week.

Sweet Giblets

So I tried to search the thread, but didn’t get anywhere. My LT1 spends a lot of time on my nightstand, because the soft warm glow is fantastic. However, I’ve noticed that even if I haven’t used the LT1 all day, when I turn out the lights the diffuser appears to glow slightly. Has anyone else noticed that (and/or does anyone know why that is)? I have LED bulbs in the room with similar-appearing frosted-plasticky diffusers that don’t exhibit that behavior, even if they’ve been on all day. Is there a tiny bit of GITD powder mixed into the diffuser?

Think we’ve all been indoors too long, I thought the dog was glowing the other night. I’d had a couple of Quarantinis, as in, whatever I can find in the back of the cupboard. Just for info, Southern Comfort and Ribena isn’t too bad.

Seriously, I can’t wait for this lantern, if only for the same use as yours. So much better than an incan bedside lamp.

What colour does the diffuser glow?

My guess would be faint white, like old type fluorescent tubes do for a few minutes after switching off. But that’s to do with electrical discharge agitating electrons, something that isn’t in play here. Interesting observation.

could it be the button illuminating the diffuser?

So I have the first batch lantern, thinking of flashing it to the new firmware. Any links to the parts needed to do this? Might just order a new version of the c to c is working. Or is the upgradeable too? Edited ,Amazon seems to be much higher on soic 8 test clip with usbisp , Ali is much cheaper but a long wait. A local shop might have them , maybe a tutorial on the possible mods to the lt1 is needed.

Any idea when the colored Lt1 will be available? For now just the black?

this is carry case for JBL flip 4, it will fit LT1 too. How many people need it? Maybe a groupbuy?

Now just the black.

It might be something like this:

Basically, some sort of slow leak allowing the LEDs to stay slightly on when they shouldn’t.

Or maybe there’s some GitD powder in the plastic. Not sure; I still don’t have a production model… just a prototype.

Interested.
Four units.

Depending price maybe more.
