Sofirn Warning! *Shipping Now Take Many Moons*

I’m in the same boat. If I’m going to order anything it will probably be from Mountain electronics. I’m hesitant to buy from China now since I have 7 orders outstanding from Convoy and some other stores still in limbo and not sure where they are. The tracking is still moving since last week though for everything except my Shockli batteries…

The sales tax thing is nationwide for online sellers ufortunately, and some states require it, other don’t. It just depends on who you order from and where you live. I live where sales tax is mandatory, and every place I buy from online SAVE Mountain electronics (thanks Richa4rd) charges me the 8.4% on the order. Aliexpress does it, Kaidomain, Banggood does it, Amazon does it, eBay does it.

The sales tax "thing" is a US based tax-- if you are paying it to sellers outside the USA, you are gettin' screwed (but not gettin' kissed).

And, I also happen to live in one of the ten or so states left who do NOT require inter-state taxes to be held. It might change any day here in Kansas, but until then... if you try to charge me tax on ANY online transaction-- it's not happening mister! BTW: eBay still does NOT charge tax to Kansas as they understand liability in doing so as they DO know the law.

As my great college professor Sam G. said at the beginning of his classes: "Use the law, don't let the law use you." Oh, and he also said, "marry only one woman if you can." (took me two, but I got it down finally).

I’ve ordered something vom BG in April, 26th. DHL announced it for May, 7th. Amazing. If it arrives, that is.

Its been 2 1/2 months and my Sofirn order has not arrived. It’s just one flashlight I ordered directly from sofirnlight.com The tracking number indicates it has been sitting in an airport in China for most of that time .

Yet a different order I placed with Sofirn through eBay is only 24 days old and is about to be delivered in the next day or two.

There is now a light at the end of the tunnel! After 38 days of silence from its tracking number, it suddenly showed up on the shores of the States. It apparently came in through Warrendale, PA (where ever that is). So I guess eight to nine weeks is the new norm for shipping from China… at least for some.

Warrendale PA is a big hub near Pittsburgh.

My LT1 has been stuck in Nanning City since 4/7 and shows no signs of moving.

Yeah, my last Sofirn order shows tracking as:

But yesterday I got email saying the purchase protection date had been extended, and also email saying my order had just shipped.

I think the boys are a mite confused.

Sofirn SP10S. Order Number : 80115263 via Banggood. ORDERED ON JANUARY 21st, almost 4 months ago. Still stuck in Hangzhou.

2020-03-02 21:02 Origin Post is Preparing Shipment, We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece.
2020-03-02 21:02 CHINA,HANGZHOU EMS Processed Through Facility, Your item has been processed through a facility in HANGZHOU EMS, CHINA at 9:02 pm on March 2, 2020.”

No movement. Keep hope alive?

I’d definitely put in a Paypal claim on that one…

Id email them and if they dont ship another with a new tracking number id immediately file a PP claim or CC chargeback

Oh my. Extended again today, from my order of last March:

the seller has extended Purchase Protection for you for Order …
Currently the Purchase Protection … will end on 2020-07-05.

That’s the order that left Country of Origin days ago.
I hope the airplane had plenty of flotation devices.

Or does this mean they’re now using Slow Boat From China shipping?

Maybe a class action suit ? Sort of like a group buy in reverse .

I had another SG post order (intl-outdoor) get dispatched to the slow boat after sitting at the airport for 25 days, but the Sofirn order isnt doing anything. I ordered through Amazon and its claiming an arrival at late as July 1st.

I got one for one of my AE orders. Not looking good. Even my Convoy orders are stalled up which they usually get here quicker than most.

Meanwhile, Sofirn is getting cute:

COB keychain light

It’s not at the Ali store. And some things at their Ali store are not at sofirnlight.com

I got a set of those, I think offa Amazon a ways back. Cute little buggers.

Unfortunately, I’ve been discovering that “shipment accepted by airline” isn’t the same as “shipment will be flown to your country”.

Some of my Aliexpress orders from various suppliers have repeated cycles of “shipment accepted by airline” and “shipment returned to China Post”, i.e. the airlines don’t have enough capacity to carry all the airmail, so it sits in the airline’s warehouse for a couple of weeks, then gets handed back to China Post for another go.

At least one of my orders has been through three of those ping-pong cycles already; China Post have actually handed it back to the airline for the fourth time now. Goodness knows when it will actually arrive here in Scotland.

I ordered the latest SP70 yesterday from Lan/Barry at sofirn.com. It is the newer 5k model listed as the “SP70 w/7000 lumen for flasholic -preorder”. I told Lan IF he’d tell me the truth on time to being in stock, I’d order one. He told me about 2-3 weeks THEN it will be shipped. — I expect it in about July :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m a sucker. I ordered another of the same light I’m waiting on (SD03), although the price has gone up a buck since I last ordered one.

The new order says: “Will be shipped within: 4 days 20 hours 57 minutes” by Singapore Post.

Huh. It was over $18 today on Ali.
But I used the search tool and it came up for around $16.
They’re teasing me.

And, interesting, hovering the mouse cursor over the March order’s tracking link gets “hand over to airline” for the 3/29 date, rather than “departed country of origin” — that’s different.
So it probably is still sitting in China rather than out over the Pacific somewhere.
