Roche F12 Desert Yellow Mini 1-18650 Flashlight Show & Tell

This was a week after the order, which was (paid with discount) replacement for a cock up they made on my previous order!

I'm wondering what's happening at CNQG.

I ussually deal with Ric, but now I can't find him.

Hi UPZ,

I ordered this one on about 4/2, but this was the batch that had the tint flaw, so they had to go back to the manufacturer to be fixed. No doubt where the finger print came from on the reflector. Very disappointing to hear your batch has an anodizing defect now. At least once mine shipped, I had ordered it with DHL shipping and got it in 3 days.

Either way, once Rick and Merry receive a good batch and ship it out to you, you'll be really happy with it. Try and sit tight and when you see this light in your hands, you'll see it was totally worth the wait. Good luck to you.

I ordered mine on 4/4. Merry let me know about the tint problem on 4/9. I was told by Merry on 4/22 that it shipped on 4/20, tracking number showed dispatched by Singapore Post on 4/25, arrived U.S. 4/30. According to USPS, it has been "Processed through Sort Facility" in New York at 1:34 pm. I'm hoping it's in today's mail at work.

The annoying part is an edc light included in the order for a friend. I expect the long ship times but my friend doesn't understand why it takes so long. I am disappointed in how this was handled, the order should have been split shipped, especially considering I paid for registered shipping. One of the reasons I use CNQG is faster shipping - this one is almost at 1 month.

On a positive note, at least CNQG checked the new lights before sending them out. The long wait is preferable to getting a defective light and then trying to get satisfaction. If you do have issues with CNQG, Ric-CN is a member here and he does respond to PMs. I think they are pretty busy trying to get the new FancyFlashlights website up and running.

Edit: Just saw your post, Richie. Our lights were probably on the same flight - mine's just making it's way to the Midwest.

I'm sure your light will be delivered today But this same thing did rub me the wrong way. Due to the issue with the F12, CNQ held up sending my Big Head K8 until the F12 was in hand. I agree, they should have split up the order and sent the balance of items they had ready.

Received mine at last, I have to say it is a very nice light, maybe even my new favourite....

How is the color? Is it sand or gold?

Umm, it's not bright gold that's for sure, a really matte colour. The whole light feels really dry! I know that sounds strange but I guess it's the feel of the anodising. As Richie noted the threads were bone dry and felt nasty but a little lube and they are fine. I'll see if I can get a accurate colour pic....

Sweet. After the SF P1 I got turned out to be green, I'm still looking for a sand colored light.

Folks, just a little clarification, my photos made the F12 appear very gold, it's not. For acurate color photos of what it really looks like, Ric's website depicts the color perfectly.

I also think the 7*7135 driver is a bit much. If heat really becomes a problem due to the high power output of this light, I may decide to desolder and remove one chip. I noticed Intl-Outdoor's version is lower output at 1.75a at the tail using only one chip, CNQ's version is 2.46, at least mine is, and has 3 of them on the driver. I'll see what others thing about it.

Although, on the MED setting it's great and not a problem.

Every new light I get is my new favorite, at least until the next one comes... ;)

Hoping mine is in today's mail at work.

Well i took a couple of snaps but the light really affects it. This photo shows it next to the Golden banded UltraOK;

This photo didnt work as i wanted but id say it came out as the most accurate colour;

It was 64g BTW without cell if anyones interested ;)

This is how it looks pimping on my window sill, its a dingy overcast evening outside right now;

Yeah, I was having the same trouble too with the photos.

On a side note, I really wanted the Roche F8 too, but I believe, unless I'm very mistaken, the battery tube on that one may only allow 18650 2600's too just like the F12. So I'm going to pass on that beauty, unfortunately.

Richie - if you do, it would be great if you post step by step pictures if that is not too much trouble. It would be a great learning for some of us DIY noobies.

Should I do it, that would be no problem at all. In fact, I was going to video it or at least take some photos of the operation. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to do it because it's not a problem on Med mode. I'll have to use it more and see what I think.

BTW....if anyone finds a suitable holster for it besides the cow-hide version I purchased from CNQ, please post a link to it. I actually prefer the standard black-type with a velcro flap, if there's such a thing. Thanks.

The F8 looks nice but i prefer the F12. The battery tube is very tight, im using a unprotected Panasonic 3100, other than that only my Sanyo's fit, nothing protected works, hopefully its got a good low volt cut-off?

I prefer pocket clips but this type of holster, maybe in tan would probably work. http://www.intl-outdoor.com/aa-flashlight-holster-green-p-264.html

I wonder if the solarforce clips would fit?

Yeah, that holster looks like it'll work very well. I'll add it to the next order I place with IOS, thanks.

@Jeansy The battery tube really shouldn't have been machined with such a small diameter, but it's such a thin wall flashlight to begin with, I guess they decided not to do it. I'd say if the F12 catches on, it wouldn't suprise me if Ric has his manufacturer update the tube, he's known for improving his items in the past.

Lastly, for whatever it's worth, the only 18650's I have that work in the F12 are as follows:

Genuine Trustfire Flames, 2400mAh (protected)

Redilast 2600's (protected)

AW 2600's (protected flat-tops)

I'm glad to hear AW's and Flames fit. That was almost a deal breaker...

Ah so some do fit, I doubted any protected would fit but then mine are all large cells like the SenyBors. If the lights got low volts cut-off I'll be happy anyway, guess I'll have to test it out...
