Balder SE-1 new design / clip direction?

My friend got his Balder SE-1 XM-L NW a couple of days ago and showed it to me today (he is turning into flashaholism, slowly but surely ;))

I was a bit surprised that the clip was pointing from head to tail (attached to head!) and the design was changed a bit compared to my SE-1. When I came home, I checked the Balder website and the photos there are showing the new design.

My SE-1 looks like this (photo from coolperl's review):

My friend's light looks like this: (photo from mybalder.com)

So, the question is: When did Balder change the design and why didn't I notice any mention about it here at BLF?

BTW: I liked the old design better.

The new design woud ruin the light for my current use , as an EDC clipped to my left front pocket .

However , clipped to the brim of a cap , this design would be great as a headlamp .

What I do

You think they could have designed it to go both ways....

Yes, it works great when clipped to the brim of my hat!

maybe you owners can interchange the head and tail?

On a Quark it doesnt matter on which body end you screw on the head or tail.

Didn't like the stock clip, using a Fenix clip which is much more secure.

Anyone ever try one of the thread-on clips like this on their SE-1?

I ordered one of each. When I received them they were both bezel up DRATS! I took a file of proper width and filed the other end and now have a bezel up and a bezel down light. Worked great!

I knew someone would say post photo . Went to photo bucket finally found some words I could make out, typed them in, it said I was right I then cut and paste in bottom box as I was instructed hit sign up and……………………NOTHING!!!!!!!!! WTF!!! If you just look at the other end of SE-1 you will see it is identical with the other end minis the groove cut for the clip. It is a simple matter of cutting a groove the width of the clip and whamo! reversible clip. Very simple (not rocket science). PB would not work for me! I will poke my eyes out LOL !!! Can/why can’t one just use camera card plugged into the printer and post photo through there? I was told this would not work but don’‘t understand why. Also, my 13 year old lab has been sick and not had a bowel movement in days he could not stand up (Thought I would have to put him down). I began massaging him and administering sweet oil/olive oil enemas and today he was able to stand up on his own and he had a MASSIVE bowel movement! Also pumped his ass full of pro biotics. He is even standing up on his own power. he is not out of the woods yet but is much improved (no, can’t afford the vet). At least I know it is not a bowel obstruction. i have not even read BLF for a week much less think about posting photos. I just figured you guys would believe me. I will get my GD over here and have her set me up and will finally get in on the photo posting Silly EDIT- dogs do not like enemas!!! but since he could not stand up he had no choice. Suppose you guys want pics >)

I believe you, I just wanted to see exactly how you did it.

Hope everything goes well with your dog.

Thanks nimbuscrenel and welcome aboard. Was just having a little fun as it has been a rough week. Never given a dog a enema >) Desperate times call for desperate measures :Sp

My mother bred dogs in the 60’s when I was a young teen& used this method to save more than a few dog lives. . My dog was down and lack of bowel movement will kill a dog in short order. Didn’t know if it was a blockage or what so I tried this method (never done it before) & am pleased to report (not a blockage) my old dog about 13) is now his old self! Running & playing YES!!! The vet wanted 700 to start so I took matters in my own hands (so to speak LOL).

Dog is fine now thanks. The se-1 just lay out the width of the clip with white marker and score as straight a line as possible (cutoff wheel) & take the proper width file ( ALA Oldlumens) & file between the lines till you have the proper depth to hold clip in place. I’ll never figure why they did not make the dang clip reversible as I hate the head sticking out of my pocket. But with patience my method worked great. Hope that helps. Now, do you want me to describe how to give a dog an enema? LOL

I’m having a hard time picturing what you’re describing- so I’d love to see pictures if you get a chance.

(of the clip mod, not the dog enema Wink )

Anybody knows where could I get the old version from? I have the new version with slightly larger near-head section, but I don’t like it so much.

I noticed that Hank has the extension tube for the SE-1. Wish I knew before I sent in my last order, which arrived today Smile

Judging by his photos , the clips are the old version, but it might be worth checking with him.

If somebody is interested, I found the old version of SE-1 over CNQ, but only T6. Just ordered one piece for myself.
