Yes and that’s the reason I got the 43. The beam profile is ok but can’t change any settings on the light, the turbo comes on first, then high, medium and low- that’s ridiculous. And the modes don’t make any sense. Turbo is 6,000 lm , next one down is about 3500-4000 and next one down is about 700 lm, and the low is about 250 lumens. How come no mode for about 2,000 lm or a 1,500lm which could be sustainable with this size head. On 3500 lumens it still heats up rather fast and reduces the output. And on 700 lm it’s often not bright enough. Go figure…the Wild trail BLF d80v2, being similar in shape seems like a light that’s been much better thought through. Granted it only gives off 3500 lm but it is still one of my favorites right now.
Yes I can see the astrolux will be more floody but I guess I will still get it out of curiosity or for a gift for someone who likes flood. $30 something seems like a nice price point.
Thanks. I was considering it but I’m not sure what the differences are in the beam profile and the throw distance. I think sst40 was 2000 lumens at the highest setting. And I believe the hot spot is smaller than the 50.2 version. Do you know if it throws better than the 50.2? And it there less spill ? Thanks
My only SST40 left is the NA40SE with 3xSST40.2 5000k. Compared against the 2 Astrolux EC01 (5000k/6000k), the NA40SE do throw further with no tint shift. It looks like a much more diffused Emisar D4S with XPL-hi 5000k.
Hope the above makes sense.
