Greetings and D4V2 7135 question.

I have been lurking for some time and decided to join up!

My collection includes Emisar, Astrolux, Lumintop, Reylight and Thrunite!

I have a D4V2 with what appears to be a 7135 chip voltage issue. On a full cell (voltage around 4.1+/-) low power modes don’t work, moonlight, blinkies, low ramp etc. After draining the voltage to around 3.9 the low voltage functions work consistently till the cell goes effectively flat.

I have contacted Hank and he suggested a partial refund which we are discussing, however I would like to fix the issue and am handy with a soldering iron if anyone can point me in the right direction?

edit: I should note I plan to buy a flash kit on my next order and try the latest Anduril as well.

Why a partial refund for a light that does not work? With a hot air soldering station it’s relatively easy to swap the 7135, but you need also a replacement and the driver is glued. First you have to desolder the emitter board (six tiny wires), then poke through the hole and press the driver out without damaging anything. There’s a chance that you rip off components or wires. Assembling might require new wires because it is easier to push longer wires through the hole and crop them afterwards.

Definitely risky! I will try flash the latest Anduril and give it all a good clean first but all roads are pointing to the chip so far. I'm guessing you can't push the driver out via the switch hole or pry it back either.

While you’re waiting for a replacement you can also start learning how to modify, compile and flash the firmware. Then you could make a FET-only firmware.

Not saying it’s the issue, but what battery are you using and have you tried a different high discharge rated one?

Update. Hank was true to his word and sent me a replacement driver some time ago.

I finally got round to swapping it out and it works great.

I learned on the aux board that B = blue (not black) and C = black (not cyan) lol!
