What is the Hold Up?!

Best thing to do like with most 4PX shipments is to not watch the tracking at all, and just be surprised when it eventually shows up.

Entering the tracking number at USPS gave me only this:
“Arrived Shipping Partner Facility, USPS Awaiting Item
MELROSE PARK, IL 60160
Shipping Partner: DHL ECOMMERCE” (as of 12:01 am, the 22nd.)
The package was handed off to DHL. So I entered the number on their site and got this:

Looks like USPS has been handed the package in Texas (but their tracking updates are notoriously slow). I might receive this on Monday or Tuesday!

It’s not only overseas shipping that is stalled. Ordered some cells from the ‘States and went smoothly across the border and into my city. Then it bottled up and idled some 5 days. Ok with the delay, if they had said so. But no; scheduled delivery a few days in a row then ’order cannot be tracked’ on UPS website. Gave up; but lo & behold, Friday afternoon delivered.

The volume of shipments has overblown and the personnel are taxed with PPE and most probably can’t cope with the demand.

On a side note, have a special shipment of a replacement driver FT03S from BG come in Pearson Int’l May 16th. Was dispatched May 14th. That’s a record speed. However, got this unorthodox message May 22nd “We are sorry to inform you that your order would be delayed 14 days due to local post office policy in your country.” So the item will stall at air cargo hub for whatever reason.

None of the others are moving. Some are no longer tracked (more than 2 months stalled).

I’ve resolved myself to find something else to tinker about that doesn’t require any online purchases. These orders (China) were in the works just as the pandemic became a problem (mid February to early March).

Let’s assume Monday ALL international flights are back to normal.

Can you imagine the pandemonium of the stalled WORLD-WIDE packages plus the ongoing online businesses?

Let’s just hope everything will slowly turn up unscathed!

No one will receive mail on Monday, it’s Memorial Day.

i dunno, i just got a watch from dhgate.com in less than one month

My Last order from ReyLight was 18 days from order to delivery. (arrived 5/22/2020) This has been the exception of course.

A lot has to do with planes coming out of different regions. On the west coast, the San Francisco processing customs can take 1-3 days to process. Most of the time it’s stuck in China waiting to leave the country on an airplane. My Convoy order from Simon placed on 4/01, packaged and shipped 4/9 stuck in China until 5/19 processed through SF customs, gets to USPS in SF on 5/21. Gets to Seattle distribution 5/24. I should be receiving soon. But that is close to 2 months. The Xtar charger\battery bank ordered same day just got to San Francisco. If you happened to purchase at a time where there is room on a plane coming over quicker, then it’ll arrive quicker. I’ve read some airlines and carriers are only flying once per month. My order from Neal’s Gadgets 4/24 arrived 5/14.

Some data on my recent orders from Sofirn and Convoy. One ordered 4/7, received 5/14. Others ordered 4/15 & 3/28 … not yet received.

Incidents where a large number of containers are lost off a ship happen a few times a year. A small number of containers being lost happens more frequently. The total averages about 1400 containers lost per year, but that’s out of nearly 800 million total shipments, so in total it’s only like 1 out of ever 500,000 containers. Plus, a lot of individual parcels go by air, not by consolidated ocean shipments.

So our personal flashlight orders straight from China should be safe, but distributor shipments could be at some very small risk of washing overboard.

There’s some statistics here:

2013 definitely stands out due to an entire container ship sinking. I think that also might have been the year there were a bunch of bad storms in the north Atlantic. I remembering having a project at work in shipment at the time and wondering when the tracking information stopped being updated for about a month if the past year’s worth of work was sitting at the bottom of the North Sea.

I’m hope my KR4 arrives soon…. last update was

“2020-05-22 16:08 SGSINB,Singapore, International item has left originating country and is en route to Canada”

one would assume if it was by air it would be here somewhere in the Canada.

Anyone have any luck with Sofirn lately?

Im a week away from 2 months stuck in Nanning, CN.

It’s not only happening to shipments from China.

I’m in Australia & I ordered an item from the USA
Ordered on 21 April via eBay - shipped on 22 April, with DHL tracking - now stuck -
26 Apr 2020
2:27am
ARRIVED AT EXPORT FACILITY
Carson, CA 90746
No further tracking info available.

I queried eBay/dealer & got the standard response. Delay due to Covid-19 etc.
so I think the lack of international flights is affecting all shipping.

Patience paid off.

-Stayed off line for almost 5 days.

-Did not track[until now] for 5 days

Just checked tracking and it updated yesterday!

ONLY 100 miles from me and soon to be in USPS[Pre shipment] hands. :+1: :+1: :+1:

Got here yesterday. exactly 2 weeks with the “usa priority” shipping upgrade. Actually delivered by fedex.
I chose ocean shipping on the other recent order… but I think this might be a worthy upgrade

About 2 months elapsed since I placed this Sofirn/Ali order:

Definitely came on the slow boat.

My K1 light saber has reached the local post office. Should be out for delivery tomorrow. I know which light I’ll be carrying for an evening walk…… :smiling_imp:
