What is the Hold Up?!

About 2 months elapsed since I placed this Sofirn/Ali order:

Definitely came on the slow boat.

My K1 light saber has reached the local post office. Should be out for delivery tomorrow. I know which light I’ll be carrying for an evening walk…… :smiling_imp:

I have been waiting for 51 days so far. 10 days ago it finally switched to “CAYVR / Despatched to overseas”. usually that means it should arrive in Canada within a few days but its has been stuck there for a while.

^

You have been waiting more than Twice as long as I. Mine was in LA for 12 days and now it is stuck in New Jersey[2 hours from me] for the last 6 days. All we can do is wait and try to be patient.

I thought once it got to NJ [next step was USPS] that it would be here in 3 or 4 days. Wrong again. :person_facepalming:

Hopefully we will both get our items soon.

EDIT: Actually it has been 32 days since I ordered and 23 days since it was shipped.

I hope no one else is seeing delays due to pitney bowes

Wow, that is a lot of scans. Hopefully you live near Cleveland and get it soon.

I just got my K1 today.

36 days from Order to door and 26 days of travel time.

I just noticed. Why did it go from Cleveland,OH to Greenwood, Indiana and back to Cleveland? Crazy.

I live in the 44125 zip code area. I have no idea where they’ll send it next but I’d bet it won’t be the post office that serves this zip code.

The suffering us flashaholics have to go through,

I was born in Parma. On this day in 1960 :open_mouth:

My grandmom lived in 44144 zip code. Gifford avenue

Happy Birthday!

Thanks. Time goes very fast. Enjoy each day.

Pretty sure the majority of members on here are much younger than I,20’s,30’s and 40’s. My guess is the average age is around 30/35.

Maybe I should start a thread about that.

you’re almost 4 yrs older than me. i live about a mile from the properties my grandparents owned when i was born. bohemian/german/hungarian lineage.

I noticed a flashlight I have on route is probably coming by train from China.
Route: Sanmenxia > Wuwei > Shankou (China) > Dostyk > Esil (Cazaquistan Kazakhstan) > Oktyabrsk (Russia).

It left on the 25th May and it is in Russia today (12th June). I guess it will take at least a month more to arrive here !

There was a project called “the new silk way”. It supposed new railways and fast transit through borders, rivers, mountains etc. If it was completed, it could make rail transit from China to EU border much faster, like 7-10 days. In reality, part of infrastructure that had to be improved on Russian territory have been never improved. Railway is very limited type of transport, if you have thousands kms of old railway with slow locomotives, there is no ways to use same railway for faster transports, you need new railways, otherwise there is no room for overtake.
Since China had invested in infrastructure a lot and had a choice in this new sink ways (various ways through different counties), there was several test trips using different ways. Non of them get common because they were not faster than water cargo but at least 2x more expensive.
Probably, today problems with other types of delivery is the reason to try this “new sink way” one more time.

P.S. In English it spells Kazakhstan.

Thank you very much for this explanation kiriba-ru and for the correction! I corrected my post above :+1: (BTW, in Portuguese it is Cazaquistão!)
I wasn’t aware of this situation and route! As you say, if it was completed, it would be a nice alternative to air transportation (specially in times like these), and even to the “slow” boats.

Maybe this is a new try out and maybe it can become implemented, even if it needs investment to change the railway structures and trains. We would all benefit from renewed train lines!

i’m on 65 days for my 2 orders from hank. they have been stuck on “CAYVR / Despatched to overseas” for 3 weeks now. i have a Sofrin order that shipped may 10th and Canada post just got it today.

Going on 74 days for my KR4 from Hank, Also from Canada I hope my KR1 is shipped with a different method than my KR4.

Just wanted to complete the route of this flashlight (it is in the country already, but not with me yet)!

Route: Sanmenxia > Wuwei > Shankou (China) > Dostyk > Esil (Kazakhstan) > Oktyabrsk (Russia) > Brest (Belarus?) > Mala (Ukraine?) > Liege (France) > Lisbon (Portugal)…. and soon to be > Porto

Finally my 4x18a is here!

^ Only took 44 days :confounded:

Glad you got it…must be a relief!

OK, explain this. A shipment of flashlights from Sofrin was ordered by me around May 25. It was showing as picked up by shipping partner in New York June 03, and I live in South Carolina, maybe 1000-1500 miles from N.Y. and I am then thinking…cool, I will get it soon. Today, it finally showed updated shipping, and arrived in California…over 3000 miles away. Why are they sending it to California over 3000 miles from the delivery address, and who is Pitney Bowes who delivered the package in California? I learned in Elementary School that the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line. California is about as far away as they could send it while remaining in the USA. Can anyone reading this educate me on the reasoning here? Can anyone tell me the transportation method employed that takes Pitney Bowes 21 days to travel the 3000 or so miles between N.Y. and California? Is Pitney walking that package the 3000 miles in the wrong direction? Am I missing something, besides my lights, that might explain the logic employed here?
