Shorter with the same input voltage to the driver is what patmurris means.
So it would be a smaller light.
Interesting question!
I think the L2 tube will interchange if I have understood correctly.
Yes, L2 and L6 tubes are interchangeable.
Awesome. I had been wondering the same thing. Are the short L2 tubes available anywhere? I only see the long ones in Simon’s store.
Ah, right, I get it.
Runtimes would be reduced by half though!
Thanks!
Now to find a single 1x26650 L2 tube… I’ll ask Simon at Convoy.
I have asked Simon through the AE messages system his reply was “sorry no short tubes”. Lets hope it will be available in the future.
…same answer.
Hmmm, if I’m following this, if the L2 and L6 tubes are interchangeable… My L2 tube has threads 1/2 way down to turn it into either a 1 cell or 2 cell light. Just buy another L2 tube and use the front 1/2 of it on the L6? Would that give you what you want? I didn’t try using one cell in the L6. I suppose I can. All I have charged at the moment are 18650 cells and one wouldn’t light the light. I’ll try again later tonight with a 26650. Or will I need 2 cells to get the voltage?
That raised a question for me. If I use part of the L2 tube on the L6 to make a 3 cell light, will it allow another cell in it for increased runtime? Will that hurt anything? Other than my arm?
I already tried the L2 as a single cell light with a 18650 and it worked fine.
Maybe if someone purchased long one piece tube for L2 could have a spare short one. I have L6 and an L2 host but I want to build L2 as a single cell.
@BrianK: The L2 has a 3V emitter and only needs one cell. Its driver does allow two cells though, hence the optional long tube.
The L6 has a 6V led and needs two cells - it wont work with one. However, with short 26350 cells you can fit two in a one cell tube and build a ‘short’ L6.
Right now the only way to achieve the short 2x26350 L6 is to swap tubes with a L2.
2x26350 may be too long for convoy l2 1s battery tube
Thanks. I thought that might be the case about the voltage in the one battery L6. Would adding 1/2 of the L2 battery tube to the L6 to make a 3 cell L6 hurt anything in the L6 with the increased voltage?
Has anybody been trying this in the meantime? A 3x 26650 Convoy L6 would surely be an impressive beast. :smiling_imp:
I don’t think so… it says Working Voltage: 5.4-8.4V on the GB specs…

Thanks for the feedback! Would have been too nice to impress the Maglite fans even more.
i has found this
https://th.aliexpress.com/store/product/L2-L6-short-tube/330416_32803828707.html?isOrigTitle=true
is there used for replace L6 to 1*26650 ?
or use for +25560 is to 3+26650?
The Convoy L6 requires 5.4V – 8.4V input voltage to power the XHP70, so you always need two batteries. One battery is not enough, and with three batteries the driver and/or the LED could be damaged due to excessive voltage.
I.e. using the short tube you can operate the L6 with two 26350 cells. This might not make a lot of sense, but looks very cool. :sunglasses:
I asked Simon the following question regarding this single-cell tube :
Does an extension for the L6 exist, so it can be use with 3 cells? Or will this higher voltage ruin the driver and/or LED?
and he answered:
L6 can run on 3pcs battery ,but too hot
this tube is just for DIY,friend
L6 can not run on only 1pcs battery
So the L6 will run on 12 Volts (3 cells), only not for a long time, as it gets too hot.
personally, I would like an extension tube so I can run 4 26650s with an XHP70.2, reduce the current needed for the output across the lockout switch.
